Allowing an app access to my photos on my iPhone 15 Pro Max

I just got a new iPhone 15 pro max and an app is "locked" in the private access status for the photos. When I go into the app settings (Settings > select the app > then Photos) and then click photos, it is set to private access. There is no way to change it from Private Access, if you click options it allows you to toggle on/off location and captions and then select format from automatic, current, and most compatible.

It will not allow me to change the level of access to my photos, anyone have any ideas? TIA

Had this issue with Synology Drive app on iOS 17.5.1. Was able to solve it as follows:

  • Following a call to Apple Support and a sharing session this worked for me with iOS 17.5.1
  • Go to:

  1. Settings
  2. General
  3. Transfer or Reset iPhone
  4. Reset
  5. Reset Location and Privacy
  6. Type in your code
  7. Confirm

  • In this way I was able to go back to Synology Drive and iPhone will prompt you for the access type and allowing you to indicate “All Photos”.

Side note:

  • as privacy settings were reset, all other apps will ask you again for location, Bluetooth, calendar, etc access.
  • Yes, it may be a pain… but then again, is always good to review privacy settings regularly.
