iphone and ipad not communicating with epson et-2850 printer

The printer works fine from my MacBook Pro.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPad Pro 11", both iOS 17.01, not communicating with epson et-2850 printer to AirPrint. The printer appeared to install properly and shows up under the Options, No Printer Selected menu under Printer menu, for each app installed on both iPhone and iPad; I've spent hours on the phone with Epson troubleshooting - their solution, send me a refurbished printer in exchange for the new printer I purchased through Amazon (Epson's policy, not Amazons); I've uninstalled/reinstalled the printer multiple times; I've separately restarted each device; Latest/current software installed on each device; Epson iPrint and Epson Smart Panel didn't help; I've watched dozen's of YouTube videos and employed recommended fixes outlined in said videos; more importantly I made sure AirPrint (bonjour) was enabled. Finally I made sure the Paper Setup Auto Display was enabled.

This is happening for me as well. The firmware is up to date on my Epson EcoTank 4850 and both my iPhone and iPad are on the latest iOS17/iPadOS17. It was since the 17.x updates that the ability to print from either of these devices stopped working. I am able to print from MacBook Pro (Sonoma) and an iMac (Ventura). I have tried all the steps regarding restarting my network components. Nothing works.

If your printer supports AirPrint - is set-up correctly and was working as expected prior to the iPadOS17 update - you may find that restart of your network components will resolve the problem. You’ll need to restart your network devices in the correct order. Assuming that you WiFi Router provides DNS services for your network, restart devices in this order - allowing time for devices to fully boot/restart prior to restarting other devices:

  • WiFi Router
  • Upstream wired Network Switch(es) (if any)
  • WiFi Access Points / Network Extenders
  • Other fixed infrastructure devices - such as Printers
  • Client devices (your iPad)

Restarting your iPad, after restarting other devices in the correct sequence, is most simply achieved by a forced-restart of the iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

If you continue to have difficulties, check to see if your iPad is using the new WiFi Private Address feature. This feature is intended to provide additional privacy and security when using “public” (untrusted) WiFi networks.

Settings > WiFi > [Your WiFi Network / SSID] - tap the “i” icon - Private Address

The Private Address feature is largely unnecessary for your home WiFi network; if enabled, Private Addressing can interfere with anticipated operation of other devices, such as AirPrint/Airplay. In such circumstances, you may need to disable this feature - and can be enabled or disabled for each individual network.

Recently downloaded latest IOS 17 update on two iPhone 13 pros and two iPads. Did not download to a third iPad mini. I too cannot airprint to my ET 2850 from the first four devices previously mentioned, but can from the iPad mini. I’ve tried every recommended solution multiple times without success. Has any solution been determined since the September posts. Thanks.
