How to fix volume bouncing back on iPhone control centre after iOS 17 update

Undocumented feature it seems. Drag don't flick too get the volume you want.

I never knew flick worked on control center items and I guess it really doesn't.

Some  engineer decided flick down means mostly dead not all the way dead.

It’s not even a speed issue. I tried fast, slow, “flicking”, and even volume keys, still goes back up from zero. It only stayed on zero after I rebooted.

17.6 fixes the bug!! Update and try it out.

Mine will work but only if I slide the volume very, very slowly. If I go fast, it bounces back. But if I slide super slow then it seems to stay down.

This issue just started happening for me this morning using the volume buttons. I powered my phone off and back on and it fixed the issue (for now at least).

It literally takes 0.1 seconds longer to drag vs. flick the slider where you want. It's clearly a bug but the workaround is not a big deal.

I never experienced the bug because I never tried to flick the volume until I stumbled into this discussion.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and it happens constantly, but it is not regular. It seems to depend on the volume you start at and perhaps how hard you swipe down. It also bounces back to a volume less than the starting volume. At a very low starting volume with enough swiping speed, you can even get it to double bounce.

So it's probably a feedback bug in something that usually feels quite satisfying.

Still happening in iOS 17.4 DB3. Submitted info/video/screenshots in Feedback App FB13584597. In my case it seems it's being reset to iPhone volume, instead of keep displaying Airplay device volume.

Still an active issue. iPhone 15 pro max iOS 17.5.1

It doesn’t matter if I flick or sometimes even if I hold it down briefly. Sometimes that seems to show it I mean business, but only if I am unreasonably patient.

I do not like sound/noise and only enable it when necessary. This is more than just quirky. It is an issue repeatedly throughout the day because I rely on this feature. Please Apple, mute means mute.

I think it would be most helpful if everyone submitted this in the feedback app. It’s been 5 months since the bug appeared with iOS 17, I don’t think Apple sees it as that important.

This STILL keeps happening to me, and at the most embarrassing times! I'm on iOS 17.2.1. I can't believe Apple hasn't addressed this yet. It bounces back to max volume the first time, then bounces back a little the second time and often takes 3 tries for me to get it to finally mute. I never recall this happening prior to iOS 17.

This is ridiculous. When I open up the control center and flick my volume quickly down to zero…. It bounces back up a bit. I want the volume at zero and it fights me back to give me volume! This happens when going up to max volume too!

So it’s unrelated to the screen swipe/flick whatever you call it. How annoying. I recently switched from Android and so far not impressed with apples speed to resolution of bugs. However I see that Apple had resources to spend on other adds for v17.3 that promotes social issues. Doors anybody know Apple’s typical response time on bug fixes?

yall gotta fix this, it drives me insane and whilst this bug is happening I can’t get any AirPods volume, when using AirPods the volume is always at 1 above off, even if you change volume or turn up or turn it completely off, it still just plays at the lowest volume while still being on
