Setting up my new watch series 9. I see there is an update to 10.0.2 I tried updating and my phone is stuck on downloading to watch.
Both devices are fully charged and on chargers. But I am relying on poor 4g connection (in hospital and wifi awful).
what is the safe way to abandon update and how do I find any file which needs deleting?

Probably the easiest way to abandon the watchOS download, is restarting your iPhone. Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. Apple's software updates won't install unless you are on a 5G network.

The Apple Watch update download freezes, the progress bar is stuck and has been for hours, tried restarting my phone twice to no avail. By the way the same thing happened with the previous update. I called in but forgot the solution.
If you cannot update an apple software update unless you are connected to a 5g network, why don’t you tell people this before they waste so much time? In the same way you tell people to ensure their phone/watch is on a charger, just add “and is connected to a 5g network”. Cheesus I have wasted so much time today trying to get it to download:(
