After the Sonoma upgrade, Command + Q doesn't work on the first try. It closes the application but doesn't quit it. I have to either open messages again and press Command + Q or manually close it from Messages -> Quit Messages. Is anyone else facing the same issue?

If this keyboard shortcut is not working as expected all the time, does this happen with multiple apps on your Mac since upgrading to macOS Sonoma or only with the Messages app? That will help us narrow down this behavior further.

Also, Command + Q works in Safe Boot
Updated to Sonoma and Command + Q doesn't work in any app. Force quit does. I created a test user account and Command + Q works in that. It seems to be just my administrator account that doesn't work.
iMessage doesn't print to PDF or shut down - have to use force quit
Yep, me too after Sonoma install. And yes, it's only iMessages that is not printing to PDF and not shutting down. Have to use force quit.
I am having the same issue, after the Sonoma update I hear a beep when I click cmd Q but it does not close any applications
