Silent mode icon missing on iPhone 15 homescreen

When setting the action button to "Silent mode" and have the setting "show in status bar" (in settings > sounds & haptics" I'd expect the silent mode icon would show up on the homescreen. But it does not show up.

Now, I have just figured out it does not who up when I have any focus mode set. Once I deactivate the focus mode, the crossed silent mode icon shows up:

To me this looks like a bug. Or maybe due to limited space between the time and the dynamic island? I think there is enough space to show this icon next to the focus mode icon.

Do you experience the same? Can someone report this to Apple?

Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

Meanwhile, you may want to consider using Focus instead. If the meeting is on your calendar, you can go to Control Center>Focus>Do Not Disturb, tap the three dots and select "Until the end of this event". Your Do Not Disturb settings will be applied until the end of the meeting and will then turn off automatically.

No it doesn't. What you believe "should" be available is irrelevant. This is a technical support forum. We deal in facts, not "wishes".

I'm sorry to have to correct you but there is a silent mode indicator on the screen, at least on the iPhone 15 Pro. It appears when you first enable Silent. It then switches back and forth with the location arrow.

I had no Focus enabled when I took this screenshot.

I stand corrected then. There is no such indicator on the iPhone 15. An indicator will appear briefly in the Dynamic Island when you change the position of the switch, but that's it. There is no persistent silent mode indicator. The position of the indicator in your screen shot is exactly where the focus mode icon appears on mine.

Yup. And it does switch back and forth between the silent indicator and the focus mode indicator. It also switches back and forth with the location indicator. Just for kicks, try enabling silent when you have focus turned off. You may have to wait a minute to see it. That fact that it's not persistent is weird.

I never said you response was incorrect. In my use case, I would be better off with an iPhone 14 that had a slide switch for silent mode. It was easy to see if silent mode is activated. With the so-called Action button, which I commonly mistake for the up volume button, if the phone is unlocked you can't tell that silent mode is on. Apparently, silent mode and location services compete for the same screen real estate. Moreover, even if I disable the location services status indicator, it still shows up after a couple of seconds. The way it is implemented the so-called Action button is a disaster.

SO HERE HOW IT STANDS! Spoke to chat support and there is not action button settings in the iphone 15 ONLY the pro and pro max verisons what a joke! So i had to go through all the questions about my serial number and my software versions at this point was starting to get annyoed because it shouldnt be that hard to tell a end user in the UK where the setting is to turn your phone to silent from the settings menu NOT the side button!.... I wouldnt have even bothered to check this but i bought a phone case for my new iphone that pretty much covers it with a rubber seal and screw down front so that its completely protected regardless of this, i thought well what happens side silent mode button stops working for any number of reasons.......... So i pretty much told the chat assaissant that Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave right now... The lastest gen iphone and its not even got a setting in the menu to turn the iphone to silent.... They told me a supervisor will be contacting me tomorrow guess they only cared about the pro and pro max people...
