iPhone 15 Pro Max stops charging at 80%

Hi my new 15 Pro Max seems to stop charging at 80%, I noticed it the other day and saw that it was set to optimized, so I turned that off and thought it would be fixed now. But then today I saw the screen suddenly turn on while it was charging and then I saw that it had stopped again after reaching 80%

I want it to charge to 100% every time without stopping, do you think it would help if I restart the phone? My old 14 Pro Max didnt have this problem.

Hi. I’ve had this issue! Apple even sent me out a new phone and the issue still persisted.

The last two nights I have gone back to USB- type C charged and it has since charged to 100%.

I think the 20w fast charger that is supplied with the new phones is charging up the phones too much which caused it to heat up and stopped charging at 80%

Multiple Apple stores nor a customer service provider could figure this fault out, I’ve had to figure this out myself.

I am having the same problem and have not yet found a solution. I charge my phone for the day and do not charge it again until I go to sleep. I want it to charge to 100% every time. Very frustrating that it stops at 80, even when optimization turned off.

By a small amount, yes.

For me, as soon as they gave the option to limit to 80%, I turned the feature ON and love it. Now, I can charge as often as I want, and my "maximum capacity" (in Battery > Battery Health) is still 100% while my wife's has gotten lower. So, I'm surprised anyone is turning that feature off...my phone can usually last 2 days on a charge even after only charging to 80%...so I'm happy to let my battery live longer.

Even if you didn't have it on, the phone would still stop charing when it was full and then let it drain a bit. You also can't reliably compare two phones unless they are the same models with batteries that came off the assembly line about the same time and that have exactly the same settings and apps and which have been used in exactly the same places at the same time in the same way.

After two years of constant charging, I'm betting my 80% charged will last longer than many people's 100% charge.

I used optimized battery charging and have for years. It has the advantage of my phone having full charge when I need it to.

Same issue. Getting really frustrated now. No such problems on my old iPhone 11.

Why has this been driving me insane since I got my phone in November and I could not find any info on it until now ... I'm going to try swapping my block out and see if that helps.

Hello, can someone tell me what is the solution to get the 15 pro max to start optimizing charging like how previous versions used to do, mine is just stopping at 80% also
