All texts did not transfer to new iPhone, but are still on iPad/Mac?

I received my new 15 Pro Max yesterday and migrated everything via iCloud from my 12 Pro Max. A lot of my messages did not transfer from my old device. Anything after Feb of this year is missing. When checking my iPad and Macbook, the messages are still there, so they're definitely in the cloud. I have iMessage turned on in iCloud and all that as well. Will I need to restore from backup (from my old phone) again and hope they'll repopulate? Or is there an easier workaround to getting back these messages on my phone?

I know it seems silly to want messages from years ago, but some are from people who are no longer here, so it's hard to let them go.

TIA!

Have you found a solution yet? I have resynced iMessages twice. I turned my iPhone 13 Pro in at apple when I got my iPhone 15 pro so I can’t get the other phone back.

I updated to iOS 17.3. But that didn’t help.

All of my messages after sept 13th, 2023 did not import either!

All my work conversations and everything that I need are gone as well.

I finally took mine to the Apple Store, because when I tried to erase everything on my 15, nothing. The Apple Store was able to clear everything off my new iPhone 15 Pro Max and start over again from scratch and was able to pull everything off my iPhone 11 all my text messages and my apps were pulled over this time. It only took a few minutes. I am very happy.

Do you have a lot is texts in the cloud?it shows I have 60,000+. I had no idea there were so many. I am wondering if those that got them to come down had fewer, or any other differences.

The Apple Store has been awful at helping me. The last time I went in for help with this they told me the only option I had was to return this brand new phone & but an SE!

I called Apple support- they have been the most help. However, I still have thousands of texts floating in the cloud.

I am so sorry. I fully understand how you are feeling. I have yet to get all of my messages. I hope the Apple Store near you is helpful. The one near me were of no help to me. The store, several apple support employees just say they’re still loading, it’ll take 24 hours. But, when it’s been 24, 48, 72 hours, then weeks, then over a month, and for multiple people it’s not an us problem. It’s an Apple problem they are refusing to acknowledge. 😡

so, I got it to work. Go to the old phone

settings

>name

>iCloud

> Show all in 'apps using iCloud'

> Scroll down to 'messages in iCloud'

> Scroll down to the bottom of the page

select 'sync now'

it will show the total number of text messages on this same page. before doing this I was missing about 150 messages between the old and new phone

repeat with the new phone

if that does not work, go back to the old phone and repeat, you should see the number of texts match at this point between phones.

good luck

If anyone else is having issues I had the same problem and this is what I did. For example I’ll use the name Summer. I had a long text history with Summer and many were gone. So I went to messages, clicked edit at the top left corner, then show recently deleted, then hit her name. The missing text messages popped up. Hope this helps anyone!
