I am having problems with connecting my iPhone 15 Pro to Honda CrV CarPlay.

Won’t connect with Hondalunk or pair with Bluetooth. Already spent an hour with Hondalink support. They put everything back to factory settings, etc. & could not solve the issue

Ok, so I was finally successful after switching the USB cable to the one that came with my iPhone 15. It paired successfully in one second! While I was using a different USB cable I purchased from the third party, it did not allow pairing. The white cable from Apple that came with my iPhone, with the white plug-in head, worked for me, so I hope you try it yourself and get it working too!

I tried everything on on the boards and my iPhone 15 Pro Max could not be seen by the Honda CR-V infotainment system. It had been randomly losing contact with the radio and then would restart. A cable would just stop working and I would try another and it would work. Then one day no cable would work. I read on another site about holding the power button on the Honda radio for 10 seconds and make it reboot. This took almost 2 minutes to restart but it fixed the issue, finally. I am taking my Honda in to the service center to see if their are any firmware updates because once I tried to use Shazam while the iPhone 15 was connected and all the gauges in the middle of the dash started blinking like their was a short. I never tried it again but it went crazy. I am just glad the reset fixed it.

I like many others could not get my new iPhone 15 to connect to Apple CarPlay in my Honda CRV. I was on the phone with Apple for 35 minutes and they couldn’t fix the problem. Then I went to Honda. They didn’t know what to do. They sent me to Best Buy for some kind of a connector. I went to Best Buy and they said a connector won’t make any difference and they sent me to a car stereo place. When I walked in there and explained my problem the guy said let’s try this cable and it was a USB– C 3.0 cable he plugged that in to the source in the CRV and then into my phone and boom it worked right away and everything is as it was before download the contacts I can use my GPS everything‘s working. I think that you need a better cable because the phone is 5G. And it requires a cable that has Data transfer capability.

Try using the USB C cable that came with your iPhone 15 by Apple. Apparently the USB C cable are not all the same!!

It finally worked when I switched my USB C cable I was using from the third-party brand for the last 3 months, which worked fine for charging my iPhone but not for pairing with my car. As soon as I used my Apple USB cable, it immediately paired successfully. Hope this helps u too; Good luck!

There are numerous threads about this. For some people it could be the cable they are using (not all USB-C cables are the same or will work well in all ports). For some the port in their car may be the issue (some ports are not able to handle higher power loads…many are only 1 amp when some devices may require 2+ amps). Try looking at one of the threads about this and you will see where some were able to make things work with a different cable…this is assuming you are using wired CarPlay. This is an issue that comes up for some users every time a new iPhone is released. In some cases the head unit may need an update which the manufacturer would need to provide. A lot of the times the manufacturer will play the blame game (especially those that rarely or never send firmware or software updates to their vehicles head units) so it will become a huge back and forth with being told to contact Apple and vice versa if Apple determines the issue is not on their end. Rarely will the manufacturer admit to an issue with low amped ports for example…they often don’t actually disclose the amp of the ports but people with a multi-meter can test it.

I know this doesn’t exactly solve your problem but there is hope that for you it’s only a case of needing to find the right cable (assuming you are not using wireless CarPlay). Try turning off Bluetooth on your iPhone, restarting the phone and then turning Bluetooth back on before attempting to pair to your car. Make sure you have the latest iOS on your phone (17.0.2). If your car head unit does OTA updates check to make sure a new one isn’t available ( this is assuming that Honda support didn’t already have you do that). Contact Apple Support directly for any other possible troubleshooting options. And…if none of that works it might be something that an iOS update addresses. Oh and if at all possible try connecting to another car that has CarPlay to see if the issue still occurs (preferably a different make/model than you have). I personally haven’t had any issues using it wired or wireless in my vehicle or the other make/models in my household so it doesn’t appear to be a universal issue.

Found a solution(?) Look at the USB head colour. If it's white, it won't work. If it's blue or purple, it will. I got a cheap multi retractable charger from amazon that had a purple head versus one that was just a white head, and the purple one did the trick. I noticed people saying even their apple branded wires weren't working and to me I noticed those were white heads.

Granted, I haven't used the purple head multiple times, but I just went in my car to try it and it worked.

I had this exact same problem. If the push and hold of the volume button does not work do this:

Go to settings -> system settings, scroll all the way to the bottom for detail information (or up one) then choose back up and reset and do a factory reset on the head unit.

Then remove your car from the CarPlay settings on your phone and then plug it back in after the reset is complete.

Hi karenfromdelray beach,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. There are steps available to help troubleshoot CarPlay. We recommend for you to follow these steps:

What you need to use CarPlay
* Make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay
* Make sure your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.
* Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS

Check your wired or wireless connection and your iPhone settings
If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:

* If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.

* If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.

2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.

3. Restart your iPhone and your car.

4. Make sure that Siri is on.

5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

Connect your iPhone with a USB-C connector to CarPlay with the USB-C to Lightning Adapter

You can use the USB-C to Lightning Adapter with wired CarPlay in most vehicles. However, some combinations of adapters, cables, and vehicle entertainment systems might disrupt the wired CarPlay connection. In this situation or for cars that support only wired CarPlay, use a direct connection with a USB cable.

Following these steps may help and is outlined in this article: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

Kind regards.

We're having this same problem with a 2022 Honda Civic Sport sedan. Wired CarPlay using a USB to Lightning cable, with the Lightning to USB C adapter on it. All are Apple cables/adapters.

All of our other iPhones work in this car with CarPlay with no problems (iPhone 11, 12 Pro Max, 15 Plus). From what I've read in about a dozen different threads like this, this is a problem only with the 15 Pro models.

We'll begin the hunt for a direct USB A to USB C cable (no adapter) today to see if that fixes this problem. If that fails, then we'll have Honda update the head unit if possible. If that all fails, the 15 Pro Max goes back to Apple to be exchanged for the 15 Plus because it's not practical in my son's job not to have a navigation system in the car.
