How to add a hollow shape in a picture.

Before, I could add a shape in any picture, and it would "box" the item to highlight it.

Now, if you click the markup tool and select shapes, it inserts a full-colored shape, covering the picture.

Any idea what I am missing?

Using Shapes in Markup on Photos I'd like to draw a circle around a section of my photo, and have what's inside the circle be as exactly as the photo is. In other words, a transparent fill color, or rather NO fill. I go into Markup, click the Shapes icon, and choose the circle. But it always fills in the color set by the separate Fill Color icon. It creates an opaque, filled-in circle whereas I just want to draw the edges of a circle, a transparent circle. Thanks for any help.

Markup Options on Photos This is driving me insane! I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max. And when editing a photo, the markup option is just maddening, to say the least! When choosing a shape, the shapes come up as a solid gray! What is the point of this? Obviously I want to circle an item for the sole purpose of the receiving person to see what I encircled! What happened to the outline options? And please, if you have the answer, give specific steps/instructions...I'd be forever grateful!! Thank you!

Adding names in Photos When I add a name to a photo and hit "Return", I can't position the circle over the face because a small version of the entire picture moves with my cursor. I read two articles: "Cannot move the 'Click to Name' circle...", and Old Toad's reply. I hesitate to try the "safe mode" strategy because I worry it will mess with my fonts, etc.
