My Macbook won't recognize my Logitech G203 LIGHTSYNC Wired Gaming Mouse

I had this issue a while back, but it seemed to be an intermittent problem (meaning the mouse would occasionally work and occassionally not work). Right now it seems like my mouse just stopped functioning with my Macbook permanently and randomly. Before you tell me that it's time to get a new mouse, this mouse works fine on other computers (I've tested it). I doubt there's a problem with the USB port since I can plug other devices into the port (the only other device I plug into the Mac regularly is my Apple power adaptar). So it seems like my computer is having trouble recognizing the mouse.

My mouse has to connect to my computer via a USB-C adaptor, since it isn't innately compatible with USB-C. The USB-C adaptor is an Apple product, and it's most likely not the issue anyway as the mouse works fine when plugged into other devices.

I have tried everything that is a universal troubleshooting strategy for MacOS; restarting my computer, rebooting in Safe Mode, resetting the SMC, unplugging and plugging back in the mouse. The mouse still doesn't work.

I don't want to buy an Apple Magic Mouse. I feel like it would work well, but I don't think I should have to buy a specific type of mouse for a specific type of computer, especially when the mouse I have is SUPPOSED to work fine (it works fine with other devices and it was usable not to long ago).

Do you Apple gurus have any idea have to solve this issue, cause I'm having trouble finding the source of the problem? Is it something to do with an update?

Thanks.

Thanks for dropping by the Apple Support Communities JustSomeAverageJoe,

It sounds like you've done a decent amount of isolation work to determine why your mouse isn't working with your Mac. Based on what you've described, we would suggest a couple of additional steps to help further isolate, and work toward resolving, the issue.

If possible, try a different USB-A to USB-C adapter. If the mouse works connected to another computer directly (without an adapter), it might be the adapter itself that is causing the issue. Likewise, if possible, try a different port on the computer.

Additionally, the Apple Support article If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac - Apple Support targets issues with USB-connected devices. Please review the recommendations here, and ensure you have completed all steps.

Best!

It's not an issue with the mouse or the USB-C adapter I use, as I can connect it to other devices USING THE USB-C. It's only an issue on my Macbook. I checked the USB device tree in System Information and the mouse wasn't there. Could recent MacOS updates be interfering with the ability for my mouse to connect?

Sometimes the mouse will connect after a little bit of time. Sometimes it won't connect at all. Sometimes it will connect with no issues. That's why I'm having trouble fully troubleshooting the problem. The mouse is usable, but not reliable, and problems crop up seemingly randomly.
