How to change new iOS 17 Notification Sound

I’m not a massive fan of the new notification sound (Rebound). I can live with it, but I prefer the classic tri-tone. At least give me the option to change it back and adjust sounds for individual apps as some app notifications are silent even in ringer mode. Just release a software update to choose notification sounds for individual apps!

Hey!

At the moment, 3rd party app notifications aren’t changeable by the user, as Apple has set the default to Rebound. Only the app’s developers can change this at the moment. You can suggest this here: Product Feedback - Apple

Please change this! I need at least an option to change the notification sound of one app because if my security cameras catch something at night I will not wake up to the sound you’ve set. I’m a new mom and it worries me having my daughters room on the other side of the house!

Apple did change it. If you have the latest version of iOS, you can change your notification sound. Settings>Sounds & Haptics>Default Alerts.

Only the developer of an app can offer the ability to change the sound just for that app.

Please change this! It’s absolutely ridiculous to have all apps sound the same without being able to change any of them. A total downgrade that was so unnecessary. Literally why was this done?

Likewise, no one here in this user-to-user forum would know why Apple does or does not do something. However, I'd guess all the complaints in this forum about the loudness of notifications sounds might have something to do with it.

I agree this is equivalent to not having a noise. When you hear the same noise for every app notification, you stop listening. I’m also disappointed that some of the text and ring sounds I had set for certain people are changed because that sound no longer exists. Do better Apple!

It's up to the app developer to give you the ability to use a different sound for their apps. I have a number of apps that do this. As of Monday, if you updated to iOS 17.2, you can select a different default alert tone to one that is more to your liking. iOS 17.0.1 (I think) restores the ability to use custom tones for text tones. Any custom tones you purchased or made should have reappeared. The only thing you can use are tones longer than 30 seconds.

We have sent feedback to Apple. The issue is, as I’m sure you are aware, they do not respond to it.

"Doesn't respond" isn't the same as "doesn't read or act on if they deem it appropriate" /

So customers are left with a forum that Apple doesn’t read, and which all comments, criticisms, and complaints don’t get responded to - other than told to send feedback to Apple - or we are told to contact Apple via their Feedback systems,

This forum is really not a place to complain. It's a technical support forum. There is no current technical solution to what you want. That's why people keep posting the feedback link. For reasons I don't understand, lots of people don't bother to read threads before posting in them or they would know that already.

Now, as long as you're not especially rude, the Hosts will probably keep letting people complain. But, except for the possible cathartic value, it won't actually accomplish anything.

What you can do now is learn to live with it or get a different phone.

It's so frustrating to see that the notification sign has been locked and is not changeable by the user in iOS 17.1.1. Please will Apple kindly revert it back to being modifiable to whatever the user would like?
