How to change new iOS 17 Notification Sound

I’m hearing impaired. The new set notification sound is almost inaudible for me, regardless of how high my volume is set! Does no one at Apple understand sound frequency levels? Apple, please consider an update that lets me choose a sound I can hear.

The reason I don’t like the sound is because it sounds like the tone that is used once a recording is complete. So it’s irking me because sometimes I accidentally hit the record button and that let me know not to send it. But now it’s like every time I get a notification I feel like I’ve been accidentally recording or something just recorded me. It’s driving me up the wall!

Please change this! I use the notification for my baby monitor and I need it to wake me up in the night if she is crying in the other room. The new tone isn’t loud enough to wake me up. I suspect this is a problem for lots of parents out there who use their phone for baby monitoring. Please give us the option to change the tone.

Sorry Apple, taking away my ability to set notification sounds of my choice is not an improvement in your product. The notification sound that your teams think is ideal is horrible, cannot be heard in many circumstances and is now just reminding me every time that I DO hear it how much I dislike it. This has now become continuous prompt to consider a new non-Apple phone. Please correct this immediately and stop taking away flexibility to set up your products to my liking.

This new sound is useless! I cannot hear it, especially if I am in a noisy place. It completely ignores all the sound choices I have set up.

Today I missed an important appointment because I didn’t hear the reminder.

This, along with breaking the Music app, has made me deeply regret upgrading!

It’s third party app notifications. This new Moto is so Dang annoying. Gave me a headache. Why mess up something that’s been working for years. This is not an update but a downgrade. 🗣️🗣️🗣️change it back!

Hello ~ I chose to leave feedback on iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. I think Apple can figure out from the comments you leave what you mean if you make your issue clear. You can choose to do as you please…or not.

Anybody can take a screen shot like this. The trick is to make tritone actually. You can pick anything you want. The message we are trying to get across is: NONE OF THESE WORK,!

I agree this is equivalent to not having a noise. When you hear the same noise for every app notification, you stop listening. I’m also disappointed that some of the text and ring sounds I had set for certain people are changed because that sound no longer exists. Do better Apple!

Why can't we pick notification sounds depending on the app? This has been a feature of Android for many, many years but yet Apple are forcing you to have tri-tone as a default sound for everything.

I understand with iOS 17.2 users can now change the default notification tone, but it would be great if we can pick sounds depending on the app so we can truly customise the phone. Having the same sound for every app notification is rather annoying, especially if you're with other people who all have iPhones and you don't know if its your phone that's going off or someone else's. Just please allow us to pick the sounds based on the app.

I’ve had an Apple 14 Pro Max for not quite a year. This is the first Apple product I’ve had, it’s probably going to be the last one. At first it was a learning curve but, I finally got it fixed the way I want it. Now, they have changed it to where I can’t even control what sound I use for my individual app’s. I’m going back to android where I have more control.

I was having a lot of trouble trying to regulate the sounds on my apps. my messenger app sound was so low I couldn’t really hear it and missed a few important messages. my son came over as I am an older user in my 70s and temporary early fixed it for me because he saw an update was needed. Now every time I try to key in all the sounds for the different apps I need an alert for they all have a sound that I don’t always hear.. this is very concerning to me. And you update, should not have made it impossible to select your own settings on an app you use every day !Please fix this!!

Apple did allow for a “Default” notification sound with the update. Although not a fix for multiple app notification sounds, the option was wonderful for someone with a hearing impairment to use a “detectable” sound. However, about a week later, my phone went to a new default sound not selected by me. The option to select a default sound is still there, but the phone will not use it. I’ve restarted my phone, but to no avail. Any suggestions?
