iPhone 15 Pro sound and vibration issue after iOS 17 update

Hello fellas,

i have the weird problem that my keyboard sound glitches, when i type it randomly clicks twice when i press just one button, that is super annoying, as it absolutely confuses me :D I tried the usual suspects, but since it was already when i set up the new phone before having even my icloud on it, i doubt i will manage to troubleshoot this.

Just a quick update on this frustrating problem (making double click sounds as I type this!!). So after wasting countless hours last weekend discussing the issue with support my case was assigned a senior support guy! I had a long chat with him and he was convinced that it’s a software issue, quite possibly some corruption that had crept in during the phone transfer process. This was at odds with previous advisors hardware assumptions!! So as a first step he advised me to reset the phone through iTunes, set up as a new phone, don’t restore from the back up as it could reintroduce the issue 🤔 I didn’t have time to do that at the time, I’m hopefully going to give it a go shortly. It will hopefully prove if the native iOS is faulty or it is indeed some corruption. You’re absolutely correct about the screen record, that’s a great find for the diagnostic process 👍 However, in my case after I stop recording the issue returns 🤔 so frustrating, intermittent fault that can’t be reproduced to order or captured on a screen record!! Fortunately family and friends have witnessed it otherwise folks might think I’m imagining things 😳 fingers crossed on the restore 🤞 this has absolutely ruined my experience of owning the new 15Pro and I’ve lost countless hours on the phone with support not to mention the time the restore process takes!!

Hey there! So i finally have loads of time to sort this out, since for me it still is a present issue and it drives me crazy!

how are things for you? Any luck?

i got myself a new iphone (pld actually, 13Prp max) so i can play around with the 15pro issue. I had a long call with support today and he said huh, ya i know that, try turning off attention awareness feature in faceID Settings, there is a glitch. I tried it and for now (30 minutes ago) it works fine, but we all know the issue comes whenever it wants… Anywho, i wanted to pass on the information :)

all the best!

I’ve just got off the phone with Apple Support on this issue. Apart from ourselves it seems that it isn’t being reported elsewhere ?? Which leads them to think that in all probability it’s a hardware issue. I’ve been asked to take it in to an Apple Store for some more thorough diagnostics to be carried out. They ran some remote diagnostics (settings/privacy and security/analytics and improvements/start diagnostics with Apple support) which showed no hardware issues 😕 I’m not sure when I’ll get the time to go yet, when I do I’ll post back here (may be a few weeks). It’s maybe worth you doing the same if you get chance, especially if it’s hardware related!! Cheers

Hi Malari0,

Are you on the very newest version of the iOS, which is iOS 17.0.2? You can check at Settings > General > About > Version. Have you recently changed your sounds and haptics? You can read more about those in this helpful article: Change iPhone sounds and vibrations - Apple Support

If you continue to have issues reach out to Apple Support after a few steps here: Get Support

Good luck!

So….. after much faffing restoring the phone as a new phone and using it, the problem persists!! Countless hours of diagnostics and steps to take with apple support! The whole things got out of hand, it’s a brand new phone 😳 my daughter filmed me tapping numbers into the calculator and on two occasions it quite clearly double clicks!! Uploaded that to support, phone now about to be replaced through my AppleCare!! Crazy Experience with Apple for sure 😲 wish I could upload the video to this thread 🤔

I have exactly the same issue with my iPhone 15 pro / iOS 17.0.3

it driving me nuts!! It’s on any key press not just the keyboard. It’s the same when using the calculator, when I’m punching in numbers (not looking at the upper part of the calc) it makes you think that you’ve caught an additional number in error and have to double check. Irksome to say the least 😕 tried turning sound off, restarting the phone then sound back on! Nothing will fix it! My phone is pretty much brand new, I’m thinking a bug 🤔 however there are no widespread reports on this ??

I’m on a replacement 15pro and it’s doing the same **** thing!! The update to iOS 17.1 hasn’t resolved anything!! After much Apple Support shenanigans (and the replacement) things lead solidly to being a software ‘hard baked’ bug 😳 FYI… no screen protector installed 👍 totally irksome sound issue, why can’t this be fixed Apple ??? I feel like I’ve paid a stack of cash for a months worth of Phone Woes 😳 my iPhone X that I traded in was working perfectly but needed a new battery!!

Oh dear this has gotten out of hand lol :D

Ya so i haven´t been to an apple store yet, cause it stopped doing it like i said, but now it started again, and it´s very annoying… I will go to a store nevertheless next week and talk to them. I´m sorry this is causing you so much trouble too, and unfortunately i must tell you not to get your hopes high, since for me it has been doing it from the second i turned it on and typed in the wifi password for the setup, so no account information whatsoever where on the device, it was plain empty. I haven´t had the chance to play around with a different device tho, will do so in the apple store to have a comparison, i ´ll keep you posted.

Cheers :)

I have the same problem. I am on my third I phone now. I bought the Iphone 15 brand new back in September with the preorder. Got it replaced by apple with another iphone 15 . Got that one replaced by my carrier with the Iphone 15 pro and all 3 of them have the same problem with the keyboard sound glitch. I have lost 2 months of work time doing diagnostics and trouble shooting with Apple and I am still stuck with a phone that does not operate correctly. I am devastated I traded in a perfectly working I phone 13 mini for this horror story. I see no end in sight !!!!!!!!!!! My contract ends in September thank god. Only 10 more months to go. :(

Hey Trom,

no unfortunately, i’ve been to the Apple store with videos of the issue and such, unfortunately i had a guy that “couldn’t find an issue”, so i explained to him that it is clear as day, plus the videos show it clearly, but he insisted. I then explained that i had multiple discussions with apple support and different people on the community forum, and the drill is that i get a new phone, i mean this is ridiculous. He then had different discussions with his superiours, and after all in all about 3 hours i’ve been there, he explained that in the store they can’t change the device anyways. Thanks for the info. I then got upset a bit, in the end he said ok he’ll make an exeption, but i’d have to buy a new one, and then give back the old one and get the refund. Awkward enough i had to say sorry but i haven’t got 1500 quit lying around for this… so now i am stuck with this thing, i’ll have to resolve this with the support and send it in, it’s just difficult being wothout a phone for a week sonce i need it for work :/

Hi Malari0,

thanks for taking the time out to respond! Sorry to hear that you’ve not had a great experience at the Apple store and that your issue remains unresolved! I’m like you, I just don’t have the time to keep engaging with Apple support, re-imaging the phone and running other diagnostics! The fact is I have what I perceive as being a faulty phone (2nd one). As per my message to you, I’m really hoping that it resolves itself through firmware updates 🤞 if not, I’ll raise another case in a few months time, if it’s a buried hardware issue it may by then have been designed out and worth getting another replacement. I’m still scratching my head as to why this isn’t more widespread?? Especially after receiving a replacement phone with exactly the same issue. Hope you ultimately get sorted 🤞 I always think that a business is judged by its ability to put things right when things go wrong!! I love my iPhone(s) but on this occasion the product has fallen well short of my ‘premium’ expectations!!

Yeah haha exactly :D

no one is talking about this, i guess most ppl leave it on mute anyways, i like to use both modes, so i notice it all the time, bums me out. Weird tho cause the same software on a different phone does not have that issue, and it shouldn’t be hardware based, cause indeed it types in only one character…

I hope it won’t be like the screen lock sound after the iphone Xs generation being so low on volume you almost can’t hear it, and it never really got fixed.
