Proximity sensor doesn’t turn off on iPhone 14 and iPhone 15

It takes about 7seconds with Whatsapp, Messenger, Telegram, Instagram, Viber for the screen to turn off. In WhatsApp the phone starts calling when you place it over your ear because the screens stays on.

there is no problem with native calls, the screen goes off immediately when I cover the proximity sensor with my ear.

Hello MTVMichel,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Based on the information you've offered, it looks like the issues you're having with the proximity sensor are all related to 3rd party apps. There are a few things you can try for each of these apps to see if they correct the issue.

  1. Check to see if your iOS software is up-to-date on your device. The latest version of iOS is 17.0.2. You can verify the software installed on your device by going to Settings > General > About. If you need to update the software, follow the steps on this page: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.
  2. Force quit the running apps on your device; Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support. Then, test the app/apps again to see if the issue remains.
  3. Open the App Store, and check to see if all the apps on your device are up-to-date. If there are any app updates available, compete the app updates: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support.
  4. Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. Often this simple step will refresh the apps and software on the device to solve numerous problems you may encounter.
  5. Delete the app and redownload the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Here's information on how to delete the app: Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support. To redownload it, follow these simple steps: Redownload apps and games from Apple - Apple Support.

If the issue remains, you'll want to reach out to the app developer directly, as they will be in the best position to offer troubleshooting for their apps. To do so, follow these steps: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support.

Kind regards!
