Just curious, but when you play games do you have 'Game Mode' on?

I noticed that one of the features when game mode is on is "Bluetooth sample rate is doubled for wireless controllers".

Do you see any improvement if this mode is turned off?

Just bought one today, July 17, 2024, at an Apple Store in NY.

Steel Series Nimbus+ still drops out during gameplay.

I tried it with STEAM on Mac mini 2023, recognized the controller but dropped randomly during mapping.

I tried it with GTA: SA on Mac and it drops every time I jump into a new vehicle.

On my iPhone 15 Pro Max: GTA: SA random pauses every so often, not as much as the Mac OS drops. Playable.

I took your advice and got an 8bitdo Ultimate 2.4G Wireless Controller, which says it is compatible with MacOS, iOS, etc. I've hooked it into my MacBook Air M2 (tried both wireless and wired.) It connects according to System Settings, but the Arcade games I tried it on don't recognize any of the buttons or joystick movements, except on the initial start-up where it says to hit any key. I updated the firmware using their software.

The controller works fine on my iPhone. Any ideas what could be the problem?

I connected it via Bluetooth and direct link. It appears that the Mac sees it; it shows up in the Game Controller section of System Preferences. I wrote to 8bitdo and they sent links to a couple game controller testing sites:

https://gamepad-tester.com/

https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad

I tested the controller with several of my games. These it didn't work with:

Disney’s Dreamlight Valley (from Apple Arcade)

Temple Run Puzzle Adventure (from Apple Arcade)

Spire Blast (from Apple Arcade)

Mini Motorways (Apple Arcade)

Kensho

These it did:

Oceanhorn 2 (Apple Arcade)

Patterned (Apple Arcade)

What the Golf (Apple Arcade)

Sasquatch (Apple Arcade)

Lumen (Apple Arcade)

I started to set the 8bitdo controller up in Steam and it seemed to respond well to it. I didn’t try it in my Steam games yet though.

So now I have a dilemma. Do I keep the 8bitdo controller for the games it does work with and hope for a fix on the others, do i just keep my Nimbus+ and hope for a fix, keep them both, or try to find another controller.
