Sleep Mode in WatchOS 10 doesn't disable touch screen and turn off display...

Since the WatchOS 10 update, the sleep mode focus no longer disables the touch screen and turn off the display when covering it with the palm. In the past, used to be able to interact with the watch by long pressing the crown. This is to avoid accidentally turning off the alarm/timers while sleeping. How do I re-enable that crown long press?

Update to my previous post. After updating to 10.2, my screen would no longer sleep during my sleep hours. It turned out "Sleep Screen" got disabled in the "Focus" app. Why, Apple, just why?

Here's how to see if this is your issue and fix it:

  1. open "Settings" on paired iPhone
  2. open "Focus", which should be in the same block as "Notifications"
  3. tap on "Sleep"
  4. scroll down to "CUSTOMIZE SCREENS" section
  5. tap on "Options" directly below the screen choosers
  6. enable "Sleep Screen"
  7. go to bed

Thank you, that put me in the right direction.

So, figured out that I had deleted the Apple Sleep app from the watch, that was the issue. After reinstalling and activating it, the sleep focus works as expected. It now turns off the display and requires pressing the crown to use the touch screen.

The Apple Sleep app is what allows that sleep focus behavior.

After the latest update, I am having this same problem again. I started messing with settings because my phone and watch both suddenly started sending notifications during sleep focus and waking me. I got that fixed, but now my watch screen stays on all night when I raise my wrist. I want the dark screen that you could tap and only see a dim digital time and had to long press the crown to open the display. I’ve gone through this post and done everything suggested. And my watch is set to mirror my phone. Any ideas?
