Why is iPhone wallpaper blurry?

My log on screen photo and contact-if-found is blurred. My image and wording shows in the back but can’t be seen or read. My desktop is just a color. How can I unblur it?

If you go into settings, wallpaper, pick the wallpaper you want, hit the customize button, when that screen comes go to the bottom of the screen that comes up and on the very far bottom right is a small blue circle that says blur; just tap it and it will unblur the background. I had that same issue and the blur button is definitely there.

This is how I fixed it on IOS 17.3

Under settings.

select “Wallpaper”

scroll across to your prefered wallpaper pairing

choose “Set as Current” at the top of the pictured pair.

Now exit Wallpaper and Settings

If that does not fix it, select another pair using “Set as Current” at the top of the temporarily chosen pair.

Now exit Wallpaper and Settings

Go back to Settings

select Wallpaper again

scroll across to your prefered wallpaper pairing

choose “Set as Current” at the top of the pictured pair.

exit settings again.

Now the blurring should be gone.

if not, I’m lost as it worked for me. 🤦‍♂️

It appears that the blurring is dependent on whether you have your phone in a focus or “do not disturb” mode. When I take my phone out of “do not disturb” mode, the Lock Screen photo is clear. You can set different photos for wallpapers when you’re in focus modes, but it seems if you’re in any focus mode, the Lock Screen blurs and there isn’t a way to opt out of it auto-blurring.

Here’s how you can fix a blurred wallpaper on your iPhone:

• Your wallpaper might be blurred due to a setting called "Reduce Motion." Go to [Settings > Accessibility > Motion](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210812) and ensure "Reduce Motion" is turned off.

• Another reason could be the wallpaper itself. Go to [Settings > Wallpaper](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200285) and select a new wallpaper, ensuring it is high-resolution and not blurry.

• If you're using a photo as your wallpaper, make sure the photo itself is not blurred. You can verify this by checking the photo in the Photos app.

• Restart your iPhone by holding the power button and sliding to power off. Then turn it back on and check if the issue is resolved.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may need to update your iOS to the latest version or reset your settings.

GUYS I FOUND A FIX: Ok so you need to find a focus that you don’t use (can’t be sleep because it puts a weird dark filter over your lock screen). Make sure you don’t have any wallpaper selected under it. Then turn on a random focus, turn on the focus you want to use (bg should stay the same as the other focus), go to ur photos app, find the picture, click the share button and click use as wallpaper and set wallpaper pair. Works for me!
