Apple Watch face won’t swipe since update

Can’t swipe watch face since update. Fix was to press on screen and swipe to face desired but that doesn’t even work anymore. Turned off watch and done with iWatch for awhile till this silly update is dealt with. Feels good actually to go back to an old school watch.

Your Apple Watch was Working As Designed. The 1 second firm press to change mode and allow swiping is the new way in WatchOS 10. I have no idea why it might have stopped working, but a reboot fixes many glitches so it should still work when you power up again. Chances are that was a one time glitch.

Well one reason is because 1000’s of others have complained…to the point of if you do a google search, there are already ample blogs talking about the silly update. And why your dislike is difficult to believe is because if that actually happens - has never happened for me - it still would only take one step for you to swipe back. Anyone now, needs to go back to phone and choose watch face (ridiculous UX) or press, hold, edit swipe, press again - which is an equally silly UX.

Yea, I know the workaround but that’s not what I want. I want to be able to just swipe like I’ve always been able to do. Removing features is a bad idea. Letting users choose if they want it on id a far better option.

I have. It just boggles my mind that they make changes like this rather than just leaving it as an option. For every user that complains about accidental swipes there is likely an equal number that enjoy the feature without issue.

No, I would say, based on the frequency of unintended swipe complaints in the past, vs the uproar from the watchOS 10 changes, that taking away swipe has annoyed a lot more people.

Sending feedback to Apple is one way to effect a change, assuming everyone that has complained about the loss of swiping sends feedback.

Yes, Please bring back the option to easily swipe to change the watch face. It is lousy to press, hold and swipe - wonder why it was changed? I have many features added to each face and it was wonderful to move it for access.
PLEASE BRING THAT EASY SWIPE OPTION BACK !

Why are you asking that here? No one in this user-to-user forum can bring it back.

That doesn’t work either and if you expected anyone to want to do that ????? So awkward

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. The volunteers here did not design the Apple Watch, nor its software. So we did not expect anything.

What we can do is pass along information we have learned.

The more users that send feedback, the more likely it will reach a decision maker.

Agreed, the new function is more steps. The purpose of the Apple Watch is to increase efficiency, and make it easy to use tools… why the product management team would agree to “press hold for a time”, then swipe, then select, seems like a backwards move no matter how you look at it. Poor decision.

Please tell Apple what you would like to see in a future watchOS update via

Or, the people who want to swipe are more vocal. That's the problem with drawing inferences from the number of posts here, though we all do it at some point. ;-)

Of course, Apple also has access to huge amounts of usage data in addition to what people post here.

Agreed it’s one push release to get the old swipe up! I don’t like the new stuff!

If you tell Apple what you would like to see in future versions, and enough other users send similar feedback, then it is more likely to reason a decision maker. Vote today, and make your vote count. There are a lot of users already on your side, if you are willing to join them.
