Airpods Pro update 17 has reduce noise cancelling.

I used the Airpods Pro just prior to doing the update and they worked fine, especially on the bus with all the noise in the background. I updated my Airpods Pro to ios 17 and now I hear noise from people talking. I made sure airpods were clean, I made sure the mesh was cleaned, I did all that other people have done with no satisfaction. Made sure that adaptive setting was off with still no satisfaction. I'm not impressed. I specifically purchased these for noise cancelling due to anxiety, and was happy with them until this update. I would like to know what I can do to reverse the update.

I'm devastated at this update, the noise cancellation was so good prior to this update and now it's awful. I barely notice a difference between noise cancellation and transparency and off.

When will this be fixed?

I feel like my $300 purchase is now useless. When I first got these earbuds the noise cancellation was incredible, all the sounds from my neighbours were silenced and now once again I can hear my neighbour's tv and washing machine through the wall.

Why are the earbuds no longer cancelling out these low muffled sounds?

Please please please fix asap.

This is absolutely true... it is so sad.

When I got my AP1 and AP2, there was true Noise Cancelling. Now, I have to check if I am in Transparency mode, as I can hear everything around it.

Wearing the AirPods Pro was an experience as you were truly isolate from everything...

As I test, I switched from my AP2 to my Bose ones and the difference is MASSIVE!

Not sure if it was with IOS17 or what, but it sucks.

The worst part, is Apple acting like nothing happened.

The same has happened to me! On updating to IOS 17.3 the ANC is no longer as effective as it previously was! When I listen to podcasts etc I can hear everything around me , some sounds even seem to be amplified! I took my AirPods Pro’s into an Apple Store only to be told there was nothing wrong with them after they apparently did some testing l I hope that this issue get addressed in a firmware update soon !!!

Very disappointed long time Apple product customer and user. I've had the exact issues happening to me as well. The "supervisor" at Apple support denied knowing of ANY issue with noise cancellation and actually went to the point of indicating that we should run a diagnostic report about my phone (14 ProMax)...... are you kidding....you're really seaching for a reason to deny the issue. Well I guess I will return my Air Pods and search for a better product. No I refuse replace my phone because a newer phone was produced.

Very angry and mostly disappointed in Apple service and product.

I have been using the Airpods Pro A2084 (1st generation) for a few years without an issue with noise cancellation performing very well.

I opted to purchase the new and improved 2nd generation and find that the active noise cancellation is not as great as the 1st generation. There is increased air pressure in the ear, and a "popping" sound when the Airpods try to cancel out any background noise that is loud. I have tried Apple Support and have purchased 3 different Airpods Pro2 at Costco and returned all 3 due to this issue. I have now purchased 2 of the older 1st generation Airpods Pro from Amazon since Apple cannot get it right with the 2nd generation.

Why ruin a good thing, Apple?

Hey gerry167,

You did a great job going through those steps on your own. If you haven't yet, we also recommend that you try resetting your AirPods to see if it helps. Here's how:

How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro

1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.
4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].
* If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.
* If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.
5. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.
6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen.
