5 Screens keep disappearing on IPhone 12 with iOS 16 + iOS 17

For several months now 5 of my screens full of apps just disappear leaving only my Home Screen and App Library. I read what someone said about them being gone for good so to repopulate the screens from the App Library. I have 198 apps, so it took me a couple of hours to get them on various screens in categories I use. Well, within an hour or two of doing that, the screens suddenly reappeared giving me an additional 5 screens so I then had to remove them. When it happened again (and again and again) I didn’t panic and the screens eventually reappeared. This time it’s taking quite a bit longer to go back to being normal so I’m not too happy.

There must be something causing this and I’d like to know what and how to prevent it. It has nothing to do with anything I’ve done—I go to sleep and when I wake up, they’re gone. They return when they feel like it. My iPad has the same screens and categories and iOS and has never once misbehaved! I’ve restarted the iPhone, I’ve restored it, etc., but it keeps happening and it’s really driving me nuts. Anybody out there that can help???
