No files showing up in Recents in Finder

On my MacBook Air - Ventura, when I open Finder, no files appear in my Recents folder. One day they were there, the next nothing. Don't remember changing anything.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.5

Recents is a search folder. Try rebuilding the Spotlight index.

The metadata could have been deleted in the upgrade, but I don't know why.

Open a file in the Finder. Does it appear in Recents?
