Screen flickering when watching Netflix - MacBook Air 14.0 update

I have a 2020 MacBook Air which I just updated to the new 14.0 update. I have always had a problem watching Netflix on my Mac where the screen flickers black approx every 5 seconds.

I used to be able to fix this by going into accessibility and dragging the cursor size up and down (somehow reset it?) but with the new update this hack is no longer working.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Thanks for your help!

Hello LilyCollinson,

We would isolate this behavior further by testing this issue in another user. You can add an Administrator account with these steps: Add a user or group on Mac Once created, you can log out of the current user and into the new one. Launch Safari and test the issue out. You can log back out and into your previous user after this.

Are you using the Safari app to play Netflix content or another browser? If using Safari, does it help to clear the history and test it out: Clear your browsing history in Safari on Mac

Do other videos play properly? For example, you could test out videos from the YouTube website.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care.
