Upgraded to macOS Sonoma a couple days ago.
Crashed 4x in the last two days when using QuickTime Player, 2x when using it to record video, 2x when using it to play .mp4 files. On each occasion a report was forwarded to Apple.
Any known fixes?

I switched over to Elmedia Player https://www.elmedia-video-player.com/ and things seem to be working ok. Did you have the same issue? What was the solution you found. Genius Bar won't be able to help with an operating system bug.
Crash on qt7 every Time for me too… I have found there is a bug with codec h264 encoding ! When i encode in HQ 4444 or other codec, no more crash at all ! Can you try this issue and confirm ?
Just because I read it in this thread: using the Apple AV adapter OR a dedicated USB-C to DisplayPort adapter doesn't make a difference. Both make the system crash. Same goes for HDMI adapters.
I tried this. And Quicktime immediately crashed my entire system again. Im a videographer and not being able to play mpeg files is a real issue.
I've switched to the VLC player and the crashes have stopped. MacBook Pro M1 with external monitor in mirror mode.
