Battery draining fast on iPhone 15 Pro

Second day with the phone and had to charge it twice today and it’s back down to 19% after normal use…No apps running on background or extended use, battery health at 100% 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I just got my iphone 15 pro max on Friday. Today is Monday and the battery drains like crazy. All I have done today is make a 10 min phone call, and use Instagram for 15 mins and my battery went from 80 to 68. This has never happened with any of my older iphones

I have been having issues too with my iPhone 15 pro max. I noticed that my battery suddenly went from 48% right down to 38% after turning it off once and turning it back on, then I turned it off and turned it back on and I physically saw the battery percent number drop form 38% to 33%. I looked up videos to fix this issue but nothing seemed to have fixed it.

As I read these comments (I have a 14 Pro Max. Don’t consider downgrading to this one) and I think to myself as I read all your well-meaning advice: We shouldn’t have to be jumping through hoops like this. We have we been told to… remove social media apps. Turn off 5G. (Isn’t that’s supposed to be a feature for us to enjoy?) Etc etc. We are all here desperately trying to find answers, instead of going to the source. But the source isn’t listening. I’ve always been an Apple fan girl. Since the 4. I’ve never considered switching brands, but I am now and that’s telling. I think I’m equally bummed by the camera performance, but that’s another story. As soon as I’m eligible for a trade, I’m done. And this isn’t me trying to strong arm Apple. I truly mean it. I’ve been late getting up because my fully charged phone died in the middle of the night. I missed documenting any portion of a one chance concert. That’s one that really got to me. Here I am with a handful of 100% regret.

Can I add my experience to this list.

I had a release week iPhone 14 Pro which was fine until iOS 17. Installed 17 the moment it was available and straight away could feel the iPhone getting super hot, even through the case. Battery drained rapidly.

Next morning did a DFU reset and set it up from scratch. Still the same, it got hot at the drop of a hat and suddenly I'm having to charge it 3 times a day. Travelled to my nearest Apple Store and they ran diagnostics which didn't show any problem. Even when shown the steep battery drain in the battery app graph I was told that was "normal."

Give up on iPhone 14 Pro as it's now too unreliable to use and to REALLY show Apple I order an iPhone 15 Pro.

New phone turns up, update using the iPhone to iPhone transfer. Still the same, except now I've got two hot iPhones. Contact Apple Support. They ask me to DFU reset the iPhone 15 Pro and set it up from scratch and use it as normal for a few days to see if it settles down because y'know, indexing.

Nothing changes, still charging the iPhone 3 times a day if I'm lucky.

Contact Apple Support. They run diagnostics which doesn't show any problem, but they speak to technical and they decide that it's a hardware problem and they will swap the iPhone 15 Pro.

Managed to rescue the iPhone 14 Pro just before it went in the post to be traded in. Used that for a week or so while waiting for the replacement, did updates. Still red hot, still charging 3 times a day - except when the phone won't charge because it's too warm. At this point I've tried using the phone with no third-party apps, or some third-party apps. 5G on, 5G off and so on. You get the idea. Nothing changes. Everything is running the latest version of the firmware. All updates are up to date.

New iPhone arrives yesterday. Set it up from scratch. Still the same. Gets uncomfortably hot on the simplest of tasks and It's currently charging for the third time today. Photos app won't sync because the phone is too warm, charging is on hold because the phone is too warm.

Contacted Apple Support. They had a look and they can't do anything until I've used it for a few days to see if it settles down because y'know, indexing. Arrange a callback on Sunday.

Obviously, I appreciate there's far worse things going on in the world, but... I'm soooooo bored of resetting iPhones, and repairing my Apple Watch, and putting my cards back into Apple Pay, and re-authorising my banking apps, and resetting my MFA stuff for work. I'd just like to go back to the heady days of, checks notes, the 17th September when everything wasn't broken.

I always realised that no one from Apple reads these forums but I just needn't to vent a little.

Thanks for your time.

iPhone 15 pro iOS17.0.3.

I turn on 80% charging limit. Took phone off charger around 7:30am and by 9:30pm it’s down to 10%. I don’t even use it much during the day! Far from the promised 23 hours SOT!

I just connected a power meter and charged my phone from 0 to 75% using a 65w brick. It took a mere 44 minutes and only received 1388mAh, which if we interpolate to 100% equates 1850mAh, severely under the rated 3274mAh.

Can someone please check and see if they have similar results?? I knew something was off when my phone can charge from 10% to 80% in under an hour!

We had the same problem with my wife's iPhone 15 Pro but after working with Apple Support for about a week with them running diagnostics on the phone, they were able to resolve the problem. You should download the apple support app to your phone and contact them. They can be very helpful resolving battery drain and overheating problems on your iPhone 15 .

Dear Apple support,

I’m kindly requesting you update our community about what Apple is working on to address this battery drain issue in the iPhone 15 series phones. we’ve been loyal to Apple and iPhones please be fair to us, and explain what Apple is going to do to make this, right, as our flagship phones are not performing as advertised on battery life. The lack of response has me very concerned and I’m considering returning this iPhone 15 Pro I just purchased to replace the iPhone 15 that was problematic. The problem continues in this brand new iPhone 15 Pro manufactured December 29, 2023. I’ve turned off many of the features that iPhone 15 Pro has in attempt to stumble through a day with poor battery life still. This is very disheartening, for me as it makes this iPhone 15 Pro 512gb blue titanium, significantly less functional than the iPhone 11 I had before for 4+ years, and the iPhone 7 and 6S series iphones I had before that. Please do better!

Thank you so much

I got my iPhone 15pro on Wednesday, it is now Saturday And my battery has been draining like crazy. Last night I got it off the charger at 100% I slept off for two hours, and woke up when this phone was at 79%. What is this?! I feel like I’m back in 2013 lol. The anxiety, knowing that your phone won’t last you half a day is crazy. This has never happened with my previous iPhones. The reason we upgrade to functioning tech is so that we can optimally use it. I honestly feel like I paid more money to downgrade. Ps. I turned of all background apps and removed the always on display.

I recently bought my iPhone 15 pro 2 days ago and the battery is horrible. I spend more time charging it than I spend using it and it’s honestly heart breaking because I love this phone and it’s my first pro model ever and this is what I’m experiencing. Will there be a fix for this ?

My phone is quite new. Been using it for a few days and the after 5mins of using the battery loses 1-2%. Which is crazy as the reason why I bought this phone is because of the longer battery life than my iPhone 12pro, but now, using them both feels like I have both issues with my phone. OMG! DID I WASTE MY MONEY ON THIS!!?????? APPLE!!! If this does not improve I will surely go back and have this changed!!!!!
