Battery draining fast on iPhone 15 Pro

Second day with the phone and had to charge it twice today and it’s back down to 19% after normal use…No apps running on background or extended use, battery health at 100% 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

When you first activate it or do an iOS update, the iPhone always tend to drain the battery faster and this is due to the background process iOS does to optimize, including, but not limited to, syncing with iCloud, re-indexing your file system, photos, etc. (for faster search). This is normal and usually ends quickly, depending on the amount of data you have - the more data, the longer it takes.

I too have been having similar issues with my iPhone 15. Yesterday I turned off the background refresh for all of the apps and the standby mode. Since doing so my battery has not dropped at the rate it had been - yesterday at this time the battery had dropped to 50% today it remains at 96%. Personally, I believe the principle culprit to be the Standby mode.

I found a solution for iphone 15 battery drain out issue.

I noticed “hotspot” was turned on and also “Call on other devices” post update.

I turned off hotspot by going to settings —— hotspot and switch toggle to off

2. settings ——— cellular——— turn off call on other devices.

in addition make sure your bluetooth is off when not in use. Make sure to turn off through settings and not just from control panel. Settings —— Bluetooth—— turn toggle to off.

this has immensely helped me with iphone battery drain issue and my iphone 15 Pro Max is holding the charge all day despite me playing games and spending lots of time on social media. Hope this helps

My 15 pro problem ended up being the Apple "phone" app was playing muted audio in the back ground. This explained why in the battery app it showed the phone app as "phone audio" instead of just "phone". Apple had me erase the phone. Then when setting up as new phone they had me set up the phone not restoring from my iCloud backup. Instead they had me set up choosing the option to "not restore from backup" which basically put the phone back to out of the box status. They only wanted Apple apps on the phone. We let the phone sit idle for a couple hours and Apple called me back and we looked at the battery usage which looked normal. They had me do another erase then set up from my iCloud backup. That corrected everything regarding the battery. I would suggest just doing that exercise first and see if it fixes everyone's issues? I ended up taking the phone back anyway due to not trusting it and switched it out with the 15 within the 14 day return window. I may try the pro agin with the 16 model?

They know about the problem but will never admit it. They originally blamed Uber and Instagram apps for heating / draining battery. Think if you update those apps that has been fixed.

Then they also found that linking to apple watch also caused a problem. They released a new update for that.

Overall it seems there is an issue with some apps/ activities pulling excess data over cell. They will figure out , but clearly they should have done more testing before launching.

In the meantime, if you use low data mode over cell and limit app background refresh, your battery should last.

You can also try an experiment, charge to 100% before going to bed. Then unplug. If you have your phone in LTE and low datamode, when you wake up, it should still be 99% or more.

Good luck.

Spoke to an advisor and did what she suggested and it’s helped immensely.

  • make sure software is updated
  • enable auto lock and auto brightness ( turned on in settings)
  • low power mode on
  • sometimes it can take weeks to restore a new phone from a back up, and mine hadn’t finished so that may have been part of it

I also turned off the “always on” that someone in an earlier thread suggested.

UPDATE: I returned my 10 day old device (MFR date 10/23) and got a new 15 Pro (MFR date 11/23), Charged to 100% by 2:30 MT and with normal use, battery was still at 96% by 8pm. Woke up at 4am and battery was still 89%. I’m hopeful this is the end of the issue, and will update if any changes / issues.

FYI…in most states, consumers have 14 days to return a device that is defective for full refund or exchange. I know this doesn’t help those who have exchanged and still have persistent battery drain, but it is worth trying if you haven’t yet. We should not have to pay special attention to what apps are running and whether the display is always on, or not. Apple marketed this device as having the best battery life yet. Those of us long-time purchasers KNOW when our devices are performing optimally.

FIXED (for me): Hi Everyone from Italy! i had a costant battery drain in may new iphone 15 pro max from the first day of use. Always had iphones and never experinced something like that.

I tried in this order (after all the classic usual useless advice):

  • network reset
  • settings reset
  • soft reset of the phone

It slightly got better but nothing big.

  • Theeeen i canceled tiktok-instagram-facebook and installed them again after an hour:

Voillà the phone is now WORKING LIKE IT SHOULD!!! no more incomprehensible battery drain!

  • (in addiction i also cancelled some small apps and update all, but i don't think those were the problem)

I had an iphone 13 pro max before so i know how it should behave.

MY ADVISE from my experience: DELETE and RE-INSTALL all the app you have in the iphone, from the haviest to the small ones and check the result!

I hope this can help someone <3, i was about to go crazy!

Best regards

Even I experienced the same issue. I received my iPhone 15 pro on 23rd September. My battery was draining too fast. I reported the issue and while I was sharing the screen with the Apple senior advisor, even he noticed that the phone’s battery drained by 12% in 20 minutes. Anyways, they could not find the problem and were still investigating, I returned the phone and bought similar one. I hope this phone’s battery is better.

Several things to try that have come from this community (though should have come from Apple!)

  1. Look up setting called "always on" and turn it off (you don't need it and if you google this there are good reasons to turn it off besides this.) I tried this; it did help.
  2. I have not tried this but some have suggested turning off the "find my" app inside the phone (you can still keep it on on your mac computer I think, or someone correct me)
  3. I also found when I allowed the most recent update from apple it seemed to help. That was just a few days ago. I write on 12.10. 23

Good luck!

I purchased a 15 pro on Oct 29th. The battery drain has been pretty significant using the phone or at idle. For reference I am a very light user. No social media apps or gaming apps. For me the top 2 battery drains in the last 24 hrs were Phone Audio, 59% and Home & Lock Screen 15%. Today I decided to go thru all the phone settings. I adjusted some app notification settings, deleted some unused apps also. Turned off the phone then restarted. When I did this my battery was at 24%. I checked it probably every 30 minutes and noticed the battery was still depleting too fast. The next thing I did was remove the 3 widgets I had on the Lock Screen (Calendar, Weather and Precipitation). I left the widget stack on my Home Screen alone (Stocks, Weather, Calendar, Ecobee Thermostat). I then charged the phone to 100 %, turned it off and restarted. I've left the phone alone checking it every 30 minutes or so for now 5 1/2 hrs. It is still at 100% with no physical use. That wouldn't have happened before. I'll soon start using it and we'll see what happens?
