Battery draining fast on iPhone 15 Pro
Second day with the phone and had to charge it twice today and it’s back down to 19% after normal use…No apps running on background or extended use, battery health at 100% 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

When you first activate it or do an iOS update, the iPhone always tend to drain the battery faster and this is due to the background process iOS does to optimize, including, but not limited to, syncing with iCloud, re-indexing your file system, photos, etc. (for faster search). This is normal and usually ends quickly, depending on the amount of data you have - the more data, the longer it takes.
I’ve put mine in airplane mode with Wi-Fi Calling enabled when I’m home. It has made a big difference in my case. You can setup a shortcut to automate enabling and disabling airplane mode, although it does make you confirm the action.
I experienced the same. I went back to apple 10 days later and told them I wanted my phone taken back as I was not happy with its performance. Since I am still on the 14days return period, they took it back without questions, but they will tell you first that this is normal etc etc. After that, I decided to trade it in for the same model, but this time, I told them to give me the iphone manufactured after Sept 2023 as the 1st phone given to me was manufactured in Sep 23, now the Iphone 15 promax I received was made on Nov 2023, which made a difference in the battery a bit. I still have until 25th to return this. So I am still using the iphone15 to the fullest but then again, I think I will return this as well and just wait for the 16.
I did a test, one night with the Wi-Fi on, and one night with the WiFi off. The night I had Wi-Fi on, it drained about 5 to 10%. But today, without Wi-Fi ON, my phone is still at 100%. All this was in 7 hours gap while I was sleeping and not using the phone at all.
Hello,
I’d been dealing with the same problem since iOS 17 launched last year. First on an iPhone 14 Pro and then with the 15 Pro too.
Updating to iOS 17.3 has completely fixed whatever the issue was for me.
I have the same problem!! I’ve gotten an IP15 and its been 4 days and my battery drains so fast despite not using many apps. I’ve been experimenting on what drains it fast and i found our that background app refresh and turning off “Siri app learning” on all my app helped improve it!
I also reverted the 80% charge limit back to 100% because i read on tiktok how it’s not been helpful to the battery. I’m still observing my phone if widgets play a major role in draining my battery but so far thats what I know! hope it can help even by a little!
context: It usually takes 5 & 1/2 hours and my 80% batt drains to 20%. After removing those things and charging up to 100%, my battery is at 68% after 5 hours ( not a big improvement but atleast i’m able to use it longer while using tiktok, fb, & messenger)
iPhone 15 pro iOS17.0.3.
I turn on 80% charging limit. Took phone off charger around 7:30am and by 9:30pm it’s down to 10%. I don’t even use it much during the day! Far from the promised 23 hours SOT!
I just connected a power meter and charged my phone from 0 to 75% using a 65w brick. It took a mere 44 minutes and only received 1388mAh, which if we interpolate to 100% equates 1850mAh, severely under the rated 3274mAh.
Can someone please check and see if they have similar results?? I knew something was off when my phone can charge from 10% to 80% in under an hour!
I deleted Facebook and Instagram before upgrading and transferring data to my new iPhone 15 Pro. Battery is going great for me so far. I use my phone quite a lot and I can still babe 80-90% at the end of the day still. The rest of my battery is used to deliver with Uber eats and I still have 50-60% to listen to music before bed.
For the people who have battery drain issues, do you have social media apps on your phones?
We had the same problem with my wife's iPhone 15 Pro but after working with Apple Support for about a week with them running diagnostics on the phone, they were able to resolve the problem. You should download the apple support app to your phone and contact them. They can be very helpful resolving battery drain and overheating problems on your iPhone 15 .
i got the iphone 15 less than a week ago and yesterday my phone drained 30-40% when it was not being used. i did some investigating and found the phone has a feature enabled which allows it to be located in find my even when switched off. i'm personally not a fan of the sound of that so i would've turned it off for security reasons anyway but it seems to have fixed the battery issues. hope this helps anyone.
Does anyone think the battery drain may relate to the default setting of always on display on the iPhone 15?
i also suffered the battery drain and I just turned off the always on display - so will have to see if it helps.
I hope my response helps. I charged my phone until 9:55pm last night. I am using Optimized Charging and still it charges to 100%. I noticed that everytime I charged below 40% the battery lasts and is better. When I woke up at 6am, battery still 100% (wifi & BT disabled). Unlike before was reducing 1-2% per 2 hours even when not in use (sleep time). I am currently on ios 17.4. Please see my phone details below. I know seldom use my phone but the performance is better when I charged it 25-39% to 100%(instead of 80%). You see from 9:55pm last night until 12:39pm today, it's still 92%. I am busy at work therefore use for facebook only and other things as you'll see in the pics below.
I also switched from 5G auto to LTE.
Some have had improvement after disabling AOD. I’ve always had it off, so in my case that is not the culprit.
I took my phone into the Apple Store. I backed it all up to the cloud. We reset my phone and redid it all. My battery seems better!
First day of Iphone 15 pro and I hardly used it yet the battery kept dropping without even any apps running. Had a remote technician run a diagnostic and said nothing was wrong and a human technician has to check the hardware. They saw my screentime close to zero and how the battery dropped and I was told there is a law in Belgium that lets you return a product and demand a refund within 14 days. I went for the refund. Heartbreaking to pay full price for something that has to be repaired.
