Battery draining fast on iPhone 15 Pro
Second day with the phone and had to charge it twice today and it’s back down to 19% after normal use…No apps running on background or extended use, battery health at 100% 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

I just got my iphone 15 pro max on Friday. Today is Monday and the battery drains like crazy. All I have done today is make a 10 min phone call, and use Instagram for 15 mins and my battery went from 80 to 68. This has never happened with any of my older iphones
First day of Iphone 15 pro and I hardly used it yet the battery kept dropping without even any apps running. Had a remote technician run a diagnostic and said nothing was wrong and a human technician has to check the hardware. They saw my screentime close to zero and how the battery dropped and I was told there is a law in Belgium that lets you return a product and demand a refund within 14 days. I went for the refund. Heartbreaking to pay full price for something that has to be repaired.
Like i posted earlier about the battery draining issue in the brand new phone, i went to apple store and complained abut it, the technician there did battery test and it came out good. He advised me to wait 2-3 more days as the device was less than 24hrs used. He advised me to observe for few days as fast battery draining issue is normal in brand new devices due to the background activity. as of today its been a week and i can see there is significant improvements in the battery life. I will still go there to do the second test for sure.
I had a similar issue on my 5 days old iPhone 15 Pro (up to iOS 17.1.1). Battery would just drain several percents every hour even when the phone was idle, very untypical for an iPhone, which always had a great idle battery time.
In my case the issue was the Spark email client app on the Apple Watch (up to WatchOS 10.1.1). Once I disabled it, idle battery consumption became pretty minimal. The iPhone now behaves as I would expect it to.
The hint came from seeing that, on iPhone, Spark had a lot of background activity time. After reinstalling it, this activity wasn't showing anymore but the battery drain was still there. It's only when I disabled the Apple Watch app for Spark that the battery problem was resolved pretty much immediately.
I was very frustrated, hope it helps someone.
My 15 pro problem ended up being the Apple "phone" app was playing muted audio in the back ground. This explained why in the battery app it showed the phone app as "phone audio" instead of just "phone". Apple had me erase the phone. Then when setting up as new phone they had me set up the phone not restoring from my iCloud backup. Instead they had me set up choosing the option to "not restore from backup" which basically put the phone back to out of the box status. They only wanted Apple apps on the phone. We let the phone sit idle for a couple hours and Apple called me back and we looked at the battery usage which looked normal. They had me do another erase then set up from my iCloud backup. That corrected everything regarding the battery. I would suggest just doing that exercise first and see if it fixes everyone's issues? I ended up taking the phone back anyway due to not trusting it and switched it out with the 15 within the 14 day return window. I may try the pro agin with the 16 model?
It turns out that the fix apple support allegedly made for my wife’s phone only worked for one day. Then my apple support rep called me back to tell me that they think there is a hardware problem with my wife’s iPhone 15 Pro and I should replace the device. We are now on our 4th iPhone 15 in 4 weeks and we will see what happens now. Our next step will be to get rid of the iPhone 15 permanently. Apple needs to own up to the problems with the iPhone 15.
Same here,In Greece. I have my 15 pro max a week now.It came with ios 17. Since first day the battery was lasting about 7-8 hours with normal use.apple made me do a reset and set as new. AGAIN THE SAME. The way they treat you in Greece is horrible. I gave 1.800€ for this iphone and now they ask me to go to a service to open it amd maybe replace a hardware issue. WHY I HAVE TO KEEP AN OPENED IPHONE AMD REPAIRED while i gave 1.800€? I cant symc with my icloud so they can test it. I m losing money from my work, and they ask me to stay without iphone for several days. Thats unacceptable Apple… Thats really embarasing. 15 years apple owner, first time i want to throw it away. They should check if thats ios problem or hardware.the strange is that 2 friends bought it,and have no issues. Battery lasts for whole day.me on the other,i cant even use gps so i wont stay without battery. Ps.as long as i type this, battery went from 85 to 82%……. During night that i sleep,it will fell 10% more. APPLE DO SOMETHING…!!!
My battery on this new IPhone 15 with the new update has the lifespan of a TicTok video!!! It barely lasts 4 hours. We was promised the new phone battery life was “shockingly amazing” “last a full day with normal use” I play music and answer an average number of text and calls and my phone has to be plugged in by noon. PLEASE HELP FIX THIS APPLE!!!!
Same here.I have had mine almost a month.battery still drains by 4 pm. So frustrated. Plus I turn “always on” off but it still lights up at night so this affects my sleep. I dont like this phone so far.
There is 100% a software issue when with Cell data. While they fix the issue I have found the below helps a lot:
1 - Under Cellular Data options>>Voice & Data, make sure you do not have "5G On" selected. Select "5G Auto" or better yet LTE.
2 - Under Cellular Data options>>Data Mode, select "Low data mode".
Please note the default was 5G On and Allow more Data on 5G for both options above, which meant that it was using 5G data ALL the time even over wifi.
Good luck, but yes apple has an issue that they need to fix ASAP. I changed from my Iphone 12 pro to this one because battery was a problem, and this new has has worse battery life.
Agree PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE! i am an artist and rely on instagram so if deleting that is the answer it is a huge problem. Very frustrated w my new phone. I have had it a month. Battery drain is every day by 4 pm. Have made sure all background refresh are off except essentials. What was supposed to be so great about iphone 15 pro?!??? !
No apps open. Just safari and on wifi and losing about 2% charge a minute. Battery lasts for an hour in use and the iphone 15 gets hot as soon as in use and very hot when charging. I don’t trust the device to charge when i’m sleeping. Will be returning and going back to the 12 pro
I just purchased the 15 pro and the battery drain is ridiculously fast. Looks like this is not a software issue if they are not able to fix it by now. I am going to return it and keep using my 13 pro until the next model year, they may have the issue fixed by then.
Neither Apple tech-support, nor Apple geniuses at the store are saying there’s a problem, even though I’ve talked to them repeatedly telling them that there are many threads on this forum about the iPhone 15 Pro battery drain. While we all know there’s a problem, nobody is admitting there is.
They know about the problem but will never admit it. They originally blamed Uber and Instagram apps for heating / draining battery. Think if you update those apps that has been fixed.
Then they also found that linking to apple watch also caused a problem. They released a new update for that.
Overall it seems there is an issue with some apps/ activities pulling excess data over cell. They will figure out , but clearly they should have done more testing before launching.
In the meantime, if you use low data mode over cell and limit app background refresh, your battery should last.
You can also try an experiment, charge to 100% before going to bed. Then unplug. If you have your phone in LTE and low datamode, when you wake up, it should still be 99% or more.
Good luck.
I did a test, one night with the Wi-Fi on, and one night with the WiFi off. The night I had Wi-Fi on, it drained about 5 to 10%. But today, without Wi-Fi ON, my phone is still at 100%. All this was in 7 hours gap while I was sleeping and not using the phone at all.
