Battery draining fast on iPhone 15 Pro

Second day with the phone and had to charge it twice today and it’s back down to 19% after normal use…No apps running on background or extended use, battery health at 100% 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I just got my iphone 15 pro max on Friday. Today is Monday and the battery drains like crazy. All I have done today is make a 10 min phone call, and use Instagram for 15 mins and my battery went from 80 to 68. This has never happened with any of my older iphones

Been in the IT game for 30 years and managed all Apple iPhone models. Currently sporting the iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.4 ran a similar test as yourself. Nothing remotely like the numbers you are receiving. Example leaving the phone alone for 2 hours, nothing special in settings other than turning off always on display knowing the most draining component of any phone or laptop is the screen, started at 89%, 2 hours later, still 89%.

On a nothing special day, phone is around 40~50% at the end of the day. Use it heavily, play games, watch videos and tethering then yeah sucks the life out of the battery and need to charge when I get to work (3 hour transit). All the iPhones and Android phones do if I ran heavy CPU/GPU games and tethering will drain them all. I haven't seen anything different with all the other iPhone models.

The iPhone 12 mini was pretty poor on battery compared to the new 15 pro. Yes the non-pro phones seem to last a little longer but I would expect that from any premium device to use more power than the other versions. They are the same size but faster CPU/GPU and more sensors running then yeah, will use more power. Just because you pay more doesn't mean you get a better battery.

I suggest you upgrade to the latest iOS version and perform a hard reboot, turn off always on display and see if it settles down. All of my new iPhones appear to drain the battery but that's because I keep playing with it as its new.

Maybe there is something wrong with my iPhone then. Because I’m up to date, and always on display has never been turned on.

as I said, Apple promises 23 hours of video playing. While Screen recording and internet navigation and WhatsApp drained my battery like it could run only for 6 hours. Anyways, thanks for your help, but clearly there’s something wrong with my phone 😅. I’d gladly share my screen recording if you ever want some proof.

have a good Sunday.

I’m using an iPhone 15 Pro which I bought it on 29th September or something. I have my charge my phone for atleast 2 times a day and my maximum capacity has been dropped to 94%. My cycle count is 253 as I use my phone very often and have a lot of work to do on it and I’m regretting spending such a high amount of this battery deficient phone. Even my old iPhone 11 would last till night in just one single charge. I’m in a financial struggle now and this battery issues is just making me regret more for choosing Apple. Is there anything I could do to fix the battery issue or help up with the battery capacity? Thank you.

I can't believe how much this thing is going through the battery - I bought this for BETTER battery life as my iPhone 13 battery was nearing the end of it's useful life and this thing is just as bad as my 2 year old 13 Pro!!!! Always on is not on. I just got it 3 days ago and I've already had to do three full charges. On this last charge I have just under 5 hours screen active. The claim is that it should be able to stream video for up to 29 hours (I've only watched 30 minutes of video in the last cycle). To say I'm not pleased is to put it mildly.

I recently upgraded from 11 Pro to 15 Pro and I’m shocked about the battery life. I barely can get through a day even though I’m rarely using it… With my 11 Pro I could even get trough nearly 2 days. I already changed a lot of settings (background refresh, no always-on display etc) but my battery still drains like crazy. I’m so disappointed 😔

I purchased a new iPhone 15 Pro yesterday, 3/30/24, and loaded it with 1 terabyte. This is my 5th iPhone and I have set all my battery saving settings and cleared off most of my notifications, yet the phone’s battery drains to less than 20% in about 12 hours.

This seems to be a common problem for this model. Is the model a lemon or has anyone been able to find a solution?

I'm on my 2nd replacement iPhone 15 pro max. My original phone was purchased in Oct 2023. It died a couple of weeks ago. The message was, may not be an authentic apple battery. The replacement phone wouldn't turn on after I transferred all my data from the cloud. When I went to bed the phone was working, woke up the next morning and the phone wouldn't turn on. I now have been given another replacement. The battery on this phone drains very quickly. I can no longer use a cell phone like I've used before. This is my first experience with an Apple and I'm not impressed. I bought my phone directly from apple.com. BIG mistake. The apple support team has been great, except they were not allowed to send the phone to me overnight. I was without a phone for 7 days which is unacceptable! They did give me a gift for the trouble and it arrived pronto. The store support was the worst experience ever. I would really like my money back and go back to android. I've always used my phone instead of my desk top. That's not even possible anymore. Apple needs to fix the battery issue.

This may be redundant with other replies, and may be irrelevant to you. That being said... when I moved over from an iPhone 14 Pro to an iPhone 15 Pro, I saw an immediate and drastic reduction in battery life (on the order of like half). I spent a bunch of time troubleshooting to no avail. Then, I happened to notice a bizarre visual glitch in iOS Settings—VPN was rapidly appearing and disappearing and toggling on and off at a ridiculous rate of speed. I do in fact use exactly one VPN app and so for science I deleted it. No more mysterious battery drain. A day or two later I reinstalled the VPN app. It asked for permission to install VPN profiles (as is usually the case with such an app). This time, no weird visual glitching/flickering in Settings. No more double-rate battery drain.

My conclusion is that the app likely wasn't authorized to add VPN profiles anymore, possibly as an artifact/bug in the wireless phone transfer process, and so both the VPN app and iOS were furiously adding/deleting the config potentially a huge number of times over those couple of days. None of this was reported in the Battery section of Settings. I possess no logs from the app or the OS which might prove this, but the theory fits the facts.

The specifics are not likely relevant to OP or anyone reading, but the pattern of debugging by eliminating apps could potentially reveal otherwise hidden information, or even an outright culprit as in my case. Some of the activity on these iOS devices simply is not surfaced to the user in a way that could aid troubleshooting in these weird edge cases.

I hope this information helps in some way, both in the knowledge that this is real, and also that it's not always faulty hardware or unrealistic expectations.

Mine started the first day I got it and has been getting worse. I have done everything possible o help my battery life. I had the 13 pro and never had this issue. Nothing has changed on my end just the change from the 13 pro to the 15 pro and wish I never changed. Worse iPhone ever especially for the money they charge and the fact you have to pay extra for plug and wires!
