I have scanned photos dating 2012 that I can no long edit or export them.

The scanned photos exist on my Mac in Photos. When I click on the photo I see the date created as well as the file size. But when I try and export it to the desktop, I get an "unknown error" message that it failed to export. In Photos, when I click on the photo and the click "edit" I also get an error message, that Photos can not load edits for this image. Years ago, when these were scanned and added to Photos, I could edit, crop, export. But now I can not. Wondering what to try. I am using the most recent updates on Ventura.

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 13.5

To get started, if having issues with not being able to edit particular photos in a library, repairing the library may be able to help with the issue you're seeing. For help with these steps, check out the following link: Repair your library in Photos on Mac - Apple Support


If you experience problems with photos in a library, you can try to repair it. If problems persist, you can also restore your library from a Time Machine backup. 
Important: You should back up your photo library before repairing it. 

1. If the Photos app  on your Mac is open, choose Photos > Quit Photos.
2. Press Option-Command and double-click the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock).
3. In the Repair Library window, click Repair to rebuild your photo library.
