Question about making calls on the Series 9 w/cellular

If I get a Series 9 with cellular, if i leave my iphone at home and then make a call from the apple watch, does the call come from my iphone number? or if someone calls me on my iphone number does that call come to my watch?

In other words, is the cellular account a "new line", or an add-on to my existing phone number?
