iPhone Not Vibrating After Update to ios 17

After updating to iOS 17 my iPhone 13 Pro Max no longer vibrates when I receive a text or other notification. Steps I've taken:

  • Verified Focus/DND is off.
  • Verified vibrate is on. Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Vibration > On.
  • Verified Haptics are on. Settings > Sounds & Haptics > System Haptics > On
  • Verified Hapitcs Play in Silent Mode. Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Haptics > Always Play
  • Verified Haptics are on for Texts. Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Text Tone > Haptics > Heartbeat
  • Restarted iPhone.
  • Updated iPhone to iOS 17.02
  • Restarted iPhone
  • Reset All Settings

Nothing works. It doesn't matter if my phone is in Silent mode or not. My vibrate motor works when I test it by creating new vibrations. It also gives haptic feedback when I use my keyboard. The only time it doesn't work is when I get a text message, call, or any other alert (i.e. Snapchat message). Before updating everything worked fine.

I have the same problem. When in silent mode, when I get a text or phone call, for example, the phone has a very minor slight vibrate (lasts about 0.5 seconds) that you don't even feel if the phone is in your pocket, for example. I also don't even hear it if the phone is sitting on my desk (before, I used to). The 'old' regular vibrate was much more pronounced and you couldn't miss it. Seems like Apple goofed big time with iOS17 as everyone I talk to has the same problem with this update. I would have thought Apple would have fixed this after 2+ months and numerous updates.

Hi hoiks,

You've done some great troubleshooting so far. If this is happening with apps that were downloaded, updating those apps may help: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

If the issue continues, the app developer may have some additional steps to take. Here's how to contact them: How to contact an app developer

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.

If you've noticed this behavior with built-in apps as well, reach out to Apple Support directly so they can look into this with you further. They can be contacted here: Get Support or by calling the most applicable phone number from this list: Contact Apple for support and service.

Regards.

This is bad, Apple. I don't think it's a "bug." This is a design feature in iOS 17, and Apple is not reversing it. I'm missing important phone calls and FaceTime calls from family and business. Not cool, Apple. Not cool at all. For the first time since 1984, I need to consider other options. I was an evangelist for Apple when no one took you seriously. I'll give it 30 days to see if you reverse this terrible decision. Sigh.

I don't know why I'm helping you, as they were very rude to me the last time I went to the Apple Store. In fact, they scammed me out of 130 euros. However, here I am, helping you, and on top of that, I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Anyway, I hope to help someone because this issue had me desperate.

You're replying to yourself....Does that mean you were rude to yourself before?

Apple: you do realize that some of us customers NEED the old vibration function because we can’t hear, right? We are deaf and the old vibrations are simply not noticeable to know when someone is calling. Don’t you have “accessibility” requirements in place for disabled ppl?

Apple does not read here in this user-to-user forum. If you want them to know your thoughts, use the feedback page:

i have this issue too-- all the old slider switches to turn vibration on/off are gone. i do NOT have an apple watch.

The switch for vibrations is now called "Haptics". You should see it in Settings>Sounds & Haptics>Ringtones & Alerts>Haptics. Tap on that and you can choose from "Always Play", "Play in Silent Mode", "Don't Play in Silent Mode" and "Never Play".

my post was about the vibrations for iMessages. Never mentioned about the sound not playing.

bc my phones been updated and my phone wouldn’t vibrate for my iMessages whether on silent or not.

But for me; under messages>>notifications>>sound>>vibration that’s where my issue was. my vibration setting was set to “none” so I changed it to the ‘synchronized’ vibration and that fixed my issue. It could just be mine though.

Maybe someone from Apple can actually respond w/a legitimate reason as to why this feature ceased to exist? I too have tried every suggestion, no luck. The funny thing is that even though I can no longer feel (or hear) my phone vibrating when it rings, I can actually “hear” a phone vibrating in nearly every movie I watch on tv or movie!! So has it now become something that we can only see that it once existed?

Have you also contacted Apple directly via the Support chat option? I would suggest doing so.. the more people that complain about this flaw, the more likely Apple may fix it. You can also do the Support chat feature via your iPhone or iPad, I believe, too. We need everyone to contact Apple and complain about this.

I agree that this issue needs to be fixed ASAP as it's now been going on since Sept. I miss a lot of calls and texts since I can't feel my phone in my pocket anymore.

Can we get an answer that helps. I just had my post deleted instead of my concerns addressed after spending about $5000.

Im a new Apple customer and it’s very obvious to me now why you’re stuck with such a small marketshare despite have superior hardware.

Instead of telling ALL of us to call apple support just post the solution here.

I just bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max and no matter what I do it doesn’t vibrate for anything.

Im sure if somebody had got it working by now there would be at least one post from

someone confirming it works.

I bought a new iPhone and M3 air and I gotta say apple support and business practices are atrocious. No wonder you’re stuck with such a small marketshare, doing business with you has been very difficult .

I should have received receipts/invoices in my email for my purchases so I can give them to my accountant. I had to find it posted on some page. Why isn’t everything located on one account page.

Furthermore after 2 phone calls I have no invoices for my AppleCare+ anywhere for my accountant.

Third open up your networking hardware to app developers. Your network scanning apps compared to Android are horrible and make working in IT much more difficult.
