Problems with Changing email on Apple ID

I want to delete the email that is associated with my Apple ID but despite creating a new iCloud email over 30 days ago I am unable to do this

when I delete the email I’m asked to pick a new one. But when I choose the new one I get the following message

‘You can only add the @icloud.com email address that is associated with your account’

Ive tried the following

I added the address to the account some time ago. It isn’t the recovery email

I’ve tried deleting it from the extra emails showing on the account but that makes no difference

Help! Any ideas please

If you set up iCloud mail on your account, the ID you used with that is locked permanently to that account. You have to use that one or a third party address Apple has not seen before. If you created that iCloud ID less than 30 days ago you have to wait. You cannot use an email alias for your ID. You cannot re-use an ID that was used with another account.

If you still have questions or problems:

Refer to this document for ways to contact Apple --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support

Select your country (also look for "other" regions), then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
