My iPhone won't turn on

Same thing just happened to me. Charge the phone overnight. The phone screen went black in the morning. The phone still rings when a call comes in. There is no way to turn the screen back on.

I followed the instructions for a forced reboot and it worked.

1. hit up volume button one time
2. hit down volume button one time
3. hold down the button the other side until you see the apple logo come up. (and yes - it did eventually come up on an otherwise black screen)

Out of curiosity--how long did you hold down the button on the right side? Longer than 2 minutes? Thanks.

Same problem with my iphone 15 Pro - it is a month old and last night I started charging the phone before going to sleep. I charged it via the charging cord. This morning I woke up to black screen. I asked Siri to restart for me, but she replied I needed to unlock the phone, which I obviously could not do. Within a couple of hours a notification popped up and the screen was working again.

This NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP! I paid too much for this phone directly from Apple.

Same thing happened to me. Tried to restart using volume buttons and power button and I'd get siren. The flashlight even turned for a while one time. I asked Siri to reset the phone, but it advised me to unlock the phone first which I couldn't do. Anyway, I took a break and when I got back it was back on. The phone was unusable for about five minutes. This is the second time it happened and each time it happened it was sitting on a wireless charger.

Same thing happened to me. Apple needs to fix this ASAP!!

Just got my iPhone 15 pro max 2 weeks ago. It charged all night on the provided charger and was working fine this morning and when I went to make a call a few minutes ago it was black screen and would not come on. Seeing all these people with the same issue shows there is a serious issue with this phone that Apple needs to address through a software update or recall. As others have said this phone cost way too much to have such an issue especially for those who rely on it for business.

Rebooting the phone should not be a solution. There should be a better fix Apple should come up with. This is not a unique occurrence.

This just happened to me in the middle of the night when I went to see what time it was and the screen wouldn’t come on. My phone was on charge, I could hear the sounds of me pressing all the buttons but just a black screen. I got my husbands phone to start researching what to do. I done all the reboots recommended but nothing helped. About an hour later my phone screen was back on working again. I noticed that the light on my phone stayed on dime the entire time on charge after that and wouldn’t go out. I can’t afford for this to keep happening. I absolutely have to have my phone. I store everything in my phone. Apple has come to have too many glitches on their products so this will be my last apple purchase. I’ve only had this phone a few months. Ive noticed these threads about the black screen have been being made for over a year and it’s April 2024 and they still haven’t fixed the issue so I’m done with apple products.

Same. Brand new 15, panicked, pressed all the buttons, eventually turned back on (like it had been in a deep sleep).

this had happened several times with my 13, which is why I upgraded.

Ive got the latest version of iOS. It’s apparently a known issue at this point. I’m hoping they fix it soon. It’s frustrating, and the last thing anyone needs is to have a panic attack over this.

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

I tried everything is this threat without success.

Connected iPhone 15 Pro Max to my car thinking I could restart it using CarPlay.

iPhone immediately restarted and is now working fine.

Before restart briefly saw "device is non-compliant" warning message so I guess the wireless charger that was connected to all nigh caused the problem.

Yup happened to me this morning! iPhone 15.

my alarm went off at 630 am but my phone screen was black, wouldn’t turn on at all. I pressed all the buttons, tapped the screen….nothing. Forced reboot didn’t work. I fumbled around with the side buttons more, flashlight flashed and it made a weird noise nothing happened…fumbled around more flash light flashed brightly it made a noise nothing happened. I started to panic, plugged it into charger and it came back on within 7 mins……weird cos the battery life is and was 100%. This needs fixed cos my phone didn’t need charged, let alone plugged into the charger… it wasn’t even plugged into the charger when I woke up to a black screen, useless iPhone with the alarm blaring….it acted as tho it was completely dead when it wasn’t.

Also, got a notification that my iPhone initiated, emergency SOS at 635 AM because the side buttons were held down.

well…. That wouldn’t have occurred, had my iPhone been working properly and not playing dead.

This has happened to me twice and I have only just got my phone working again. I got my iPhone 15 in December and have had no issues with it until this week. The first time it happened it was right before a school trip to London which I really needed my phone for and I woke up to my phone on a black screen but all of the buttons were working. I used the volume up button and the side button but it made the flash turn on and an alarm started and phoned 911. After 10 minutes it turned on again. It was fine for a couple of days until it happened again this morning. I thought it would turn on again like it did the last time but it didn’t. Me and my dad tried to sort this out by doing a bunch of stuff like force restarting it and leaving it to charge but nothing worked. I let it charge again for half an hour and then I did the volume up, volume down and pressed the side button and it worked again after two hours. This shouldn’t be happening and from what I’ve seen this has been happening from September 2023 up until April 2024 and Apple still hasn’t done anything. This is very impractical and really annoying so Apple please sort it out.

Same thing happened to me this morning it was on the charger overnight my iPhone 15 pro max which is still covered under apple care.. I woke up to a black screen tried what they said all I got was a siren.. I finally called apple and because I live 2 hours from the local store they are sending me out a new iPhone and it will be here tomorrow. Needless to say it just went back on by itself.. This is not acceptable Even though everything is backed up to the cloud I still have apps that don't transfer over and this is a big pain in the ***...Its like your phone has been taken over..At least they are sending me a new iPhone
