I also encountered this when my MacBook Pro (without my permission) upgraded to Sonoma 14.2.1. The whole UI froze for about a second once every 8 seconds or so. I then installed the 14.3.1 update and luckily, this has solved the issue. This must have been the ‘performance issue’ reported to be fixed in the 14.3 update.

Update: I did upgrade my new Macbook Air M1 to Sonoma the latest version. I must say that I didn't notice any non-normal on my battery usage since I'm not using this for everyday, I guess. and the allocation of the MacOS is 19.08 GB, the system data is 10.71 GB. As of now since I've got more than 20GB applications and documents, it took around 55.35GB of my 256GB storage

OK, after hearing first-hand from the developer of a certain popular audio rerouting tool that Apple has fixed certain audio-related bugs in Sonoma 14.5, I installed it right away. This time, I have waited a few days to be really sure, but I will now carefully claim (without any warranties, I have learnt from the past) that at least the problems I experienced, are gone. I can now play any music with the window visible, and the UI will not stutter and wheeze.

Good job, Apple, 👍 but please, next time don't introduce such bugs in the first place…
