Control panel is gone with new Apple watch update!

I can no longer Ping my iphone with my apple watch (for a quick locate) because the scroll up function is no longer available. I have tried a forced restart and I even restored factory settings. Please advise!

TIA,

Click the long side button on the right, under the crown; it’s the one that used to be designated to find and force close recently opened apps. {By the way, that action [open apps/force close] can now be found by double-clicking the crown. {When I couldn’t find it; I was panicked at first, because I thought they got rid of it completely!}

{I don’t like the new update, either. I liked it just how it was. Once you get used to a certain routine; it’s hard to switch… it feels like writing a paper with your opposite hand!}

I was going to avoid this update; but it unfortunately caught me off guard and updated on the charger. 😫

In your opinion. Other people may have different preferences.

"All Apps" at the bottom of the few random widgets goes to the list of All Apps. Which - why go to Stacks to get to the list of All Apps?

You don't have to if you don't want to. You can go to Apps the same way you've always been able to, by tapping the Digital Crown.

My point was the Control Center is not gone. The Dock - however - is gone. The Dock being something that is on all other Apple devices and computers - is gone. And, because it is gone - It now takes more time to use any App on the watch.

Yes, you're correct. The Dock is gone and has been superseded by the App Switcher, just as Glances was superseded by the Dock (I still miss Glances).

You should let Apple know how you feel. And, eventually, you'll get used to the way things work now.

This latest upgrade is not the best that Apple has done and makes the watch less useful. Changing the side button's purpose, to making it the Control Center made no sense. But, what makes less sense is getting rid of the dock for stacks. Stacks is redundant to the list of Apps. So, now we have several (long) ways to get to the list of Apps - but no way to get to frequently used or favorites. So, the solution is to either dump a lot of Apps to make the list shorter, make more watch face choices with more complications (why that word, I haven't figured) or go back to using my phone more often...

The widgets in the Smart Stack are not apps. They fall somewhere between complications and apps. And, the goal of the Smart Stack is to provide the right ones at the right time. It's the first iteration, though.

Apple didn't make it up or pull out of thin air. It's a long-used horology term.

Thanks - but that does not work. Every time I touch the button with the three images (at the bottom as the user guide states) it either pops to the App list or opens one of the three icons on that button. Why have a button with more tiny icons?

This is something that obviously was not tested by Apple. It is unfortunate. I teach this stuff to others and Apple use to be so careful with rolling out new items.

I agree. This I believe is also an accessibility issue. It’s easier to swipe up for me, and I’m sure others, too get to the control panel.

I’m also frustrated that the update made it harder to quickly swipe between faces.

I have complained to Apple about this. I hope they will give users the option to swipe up for control panel and to be able to quickly swipe between faces.
