Anyone else experiencing overheating for iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro after iOS 17 update?

the two phones are overheating and battery health is degrading very fast after updating to iOS 17!

I even updated the latest to 17.0.2 hopefully any bugs would be fixed but still facing the same issue!

Possible solution: I shut off background app refresh, didn’t change anything. However, I noticed that the overheating and battery drain seemed to occur when I’m watching videos on the YouTube app. So, I uninstalled YouTube, shut the phone off, turned back on, then reinstalled YouTube app. The phone has stopped overheating and the battery usage has returned to normal, even while watching videos. I hope this helps others with the same issue. I was bumming thinking I was going to have to get a new phone.

Couple of observations from my side. I have purchased Iphone 14 Pro 6 months back from US. After recent OS version upgrade heating issue is very frequent and Apple support is asking to disable/modify location, brightness, text, privacy etc etc just to hide the exact issue.

  1. Phones having dual e-sim and whenever network is not good, phone heating starts and it drains your batter immediately.
  2. If you call someone and call get disconnected and if at the same time call is coming from someone, phone is getting stuck, freeze and heating starts
  3. phone is working fine in AC atmosphere and when wifi network is good. but the moment you step out of home and environment conditions plus network condition changes, this phone is incapable to handle such change and absorb heat from the atmosphere like a good conductor metal and start draining your battery.
  4. Apple support is providing various justfications and measures to solve this issue , but so far this is the worst experience i had.

Yes, I received my replacement today because my phone has been glitching since I first got it and after the update it was overheating and also losing charge quick. When they ran test on it they said there was nothing wrong. I told them to just give me a knew phone. Unfortunately, this brand new phone is overheating as well. We pay too much money to have these kind of issues and I wish Apple would fix this.

I am very much disappointed about my device. A premium phone worth rs 139900 is performing very awful. A-lot of bucks a faced, now the major issue is over heating, especially after ios 17.0.3 update. We can adjust if gets warmer when we playing heavy games or using camera for a while in hot exterior climates, but now it gets more warmer when its in a mild use. People should come forward against the cheap quality apple gives on their products now. Spending lakhs on a phone and get worried every minutes you using.

Yes. I've been having a lot of problems with my iPhone 14 Pro Max overheating. It will stop syncing photos, even stop charging. It would be great to hear from Apple as to why this is happening. Often I wonder if cases are part of the problem in that they do not allow heat to escape. The graphics processor is very powerful and draws a lot of power. While I was in Italy outside in 96 degree heat, I often had my iPhone shutdown while taking photos due to overheating. I would remove the case for awhile to let it cool down, but it kept happening.

Yes, I have a 14 Pro Max, I have the latest update of 17.0.3, I think I’ve only gotten one warning message since I’ve had the phone, this November 2023, will be a year that I’ve had the phone, the current maximum battery power is 97%. It does suck when I have to be done doing whatever I’m doing on my phone, because the phone is too dang hot, and I’m currently in 45% battery and I feel like I’m playing a game of hot potato🤔, since I’ve had the phone have issues with getting hot, this is the first iPhone I have ever owned so, yeah, makes me concerned about other iPhones. Otherwise, I love my phone especially the pictures It takes, except that it gets too dang hot. 🥵

As I have bought new iPhone 14 from Apple Store for a week it performed good but when I have updated to os 17 my iPhone started to heat up and battery percentage was dropped down And started lagging the overheating issue was fixed but it still lags and heats while calling taking pictures and running some app this is my experience of os 17 and 17.1.1

Same here, phone gets really warm, sometimes randomly.

I had my phone in my pocket during dinner and literally had to take it out of my pocket and turn it off because it was so hot in my pocket. It wasn't even being used and it was hot enough that I noticed it even while distracted.

My phone is about a year old and is already at 89% battery health. I have determined this is my absolute last iphone (and I've had iphone since the very first model). They don't even give you a standard charging set up when you purchase the phone. Now that they have no innovation they have to nickel and dime people.
