I think I may have found a solution. I decided to shut off the Background App Refresh which is located under the General tab, and down eight lines. After I did this, I plugged in my iPhone with the an Apple charger that came with my iPhone 14 Pro, and my iPhone stayed cool throughout the entire charging time.

Yes, I have a 14 Pro Max, I have the latest update of 17.0.3, I think I’ve only gotten one warning message since I’ve had the phone, this November 2023, will be a year that I’ve had the phone, the current maximum battery power is 97%. It does suck when I have to be done doing whatever I’m doing on my phone, because the phone is too dang hot, and I’m currently in 45% battery and I feel like I’m playing a game of hot potato🤔, since I’ve had the phone have issues with getting hot, this is the first iPhone I have ever owned so, yeah, makes me concerned about other iPhones. Otherwise, I love my phone especially the pictures It takes, except that it gets too dang hot. 🥵

As I have bought new iPhone 14 from Apple Store for a week it performed good but when I have updated to os 17 my iPhone started to heat up and battery percentage was dropped down And started lagging the overheating issue was fixed but it still lags and heats while calling taking pictures and running some app this is my experience of os 17 and 17.1.1

My iPhone, 14 promax overheats while playing Wordscapes so bad that the game becomes virtually unplayable with delays and slow downs and I have tried everything that people have posted and nothing has helped yet. Always been an iPhone fan and now this particular issue is possibly changing my mind. I have played Wordscapes on my iPhone 12 pro max for two years and never ever had an overheating problem that caused the game to be so erratic. And iPhone OS 17 is the iOS that was installed on the new phone so I never had experience with it with any other operating system so maybe that’s what the problem is and if so hopefully Apple will come up with some type of fix that will cure this issue because it is definitely something that bothers me every single day.

I have an iPhone 14, 10 months old have been having multiple issues since updating to iOS 17, the latest is overheating even when not doing anything on my phone, particularly with charging, only ever use Apple cables.

Anyway. Mine is still under warranty so had a lengthly call with AppleCare, who ran analytics on my phone which still has 99% battery health, software up to date. It’s not a phone issue. I know it is the software after reading everyone’s issues.

Befrie even considering looking into it. I was told I have to use a computer. My Mac book. To restore my phone, then manually download my phone without downloading off iCloud 🤦🏽‍♀️ but also got told to use my phone without downloading anything at all. To see if I had downloaded bugs when updating to the newest iOS 17.2.1

Slightly reluctant to wipe my entire phone 😅 as there is always risks of loosing data, as since the update my contacts etc don’t all save to iCloud with alls settings correct I’ve lost as lot of them. The lady on the phone couldn’t understand the issues.

Claimed I must have downloaded a bug. Not owning up to the fact iOS 17 has caused major issues for customers worked wide yet they are still using it and haven’t fixed it. They said by restoring off a computer it will wipe the software off and redownloaded again not just reset the old software as it would if you reset to factory setting off your phone

anyway hope this may help you. Straight from Apple cares mouth

Today the battery health on my device dropped from 95% to 93% suddenly 2% in a few hours of usage , which is not normal at all, I don't want to think that apple is purposefully reducing the battery capacity of the devices, the device is charged exclusively with a wired 5 Watt charger mostly while sleeping overnight. losing 3% battery in 3 weeks is not normal at all and especially 2% during today's day.

How do you explain this situation and do you have a solution?

SOLVE ....!

Here what I did:

-Reset and erase all contends from iPhone 14 Pro....(make sure DO NOT delete eSim that came with carrier phone)

-Activate the new phone and reinstall a backup that is the oldest backup from cloud (click on show more backup)

I think some update apps mess up with the phone......making it runs conflicting and drain battery faster and phone get hotter.

Hope that it's help...because it helped me.

Thanks

Possible solution: I shut off background app refresh, didn’t change anything. However, I noticed that the overheating and battery drain seemed to occur when I’m watching videos on the YouTube app. So, I uninstalled YouTube, shut the phone off, turned back on, then reinstalled YouTube app. The phone has stopped overheating and the battery usage has returned to normal, even while watching videos. I hope this helps others with the same issue. I was bumming thinking I was going to have to get a new phone.

Yes, I received my replacement today because my phone has been glitching since I first got it and after the update it was overheating and also losing charge quick. When they ran test on it they said there was nothing wrong. I told them to just give me a knew phone. Unfortunately, this brand new phone is overheating as well. We pay too much money to have these kind of issues and I wish Apple would fix this.
