Want to change sharing map to satellite

In the Find My app, you can change the map view to Satellite by tapping on the Earth icon at the top right of your screen, then tap Satellite. You can tap the "..." on the Satellite button to enable or disable traffic and labels.

The Find My view inside of the Messages app only supports the "Explore" map view.

In Messages, tap "Find My" before tapping the map to open their location in the Find My app, then change the map to "Satellite".

Yes they did goof up but the information is not totally wrong. You can still see your family members from messages but map only. But when I did look at find me I was able to see my family members location in satellite or map view. So you will have to use find me to see the area. It sucks

I only have the iPhone XR but after the update, when I went to view my son’s location it showed the basic map and I had it set to satellite before the update. To get the satellite view back, I went to his message, tapped the little arrow> and it took me to the location map. It was the basic map. If I tap on the map itself to open it bigger, there is a map tab at the top right that lets me switch the view. It’s now back to satellite view again. Instead of seeing the location in satellite as soon as I go in, I see the basic map but once I tap on it it’s satellite. Hope that makes sense. You don’t need to do the find me in group chats only.

You don’t have to use find me. On my phone when I go to a single person whose location is shared with me I just have to tap the map and it opens up to where I can change it to satellite.

I think ISO17 total goofed up Message Location. It will not reset for hours at a time - without turning off your phone-and it only shows in Maps and not satellite anymore!!!

There’s confusion here. One thing is on the “find my iPhone” and have real map as well. Everyone wants to see the satellite view on the location Sharing from the messages. Map view is a better way to see surroundings rather than a Walt Disney map with no detail

The problem is we want to see the satellite view when we look at their location from the location sharing off of the message app

I’m afraid I was mistaken; the Find My button in the Messages app only appears for group chats.

If you open a group chat in the Messages app with at least one recipient sharing their location with you, then tap the group name at the top, there will be a “Find My” button underneath the map that will open the Find My app.

Is there a fix for this?
