Iphone 12 mini camera not focusing after iOS 17 update

I also have the same issue. My girl and I FaceTime a lot, like everyday. The rear camera was working well last night, and when I tried using the camera today, the 1x feature gives me blurry pictures. The 0.5x and 2.5x works fine

13.01.24 main front camera become blury (nôt focusing at all), but it was still focusing at instagram Ánd wu. But 15.01 it’s blurry at all apps, the other cameras are ok, it was never for good pictures…. I mean it’s a joke? I do not want to buy new one

Same here 😞 It’s just useless having a phone without camera 😒 The Advice I’ve got today from Apple support - I can get the camera fixed for $169. They are not aware of any issues after the upgrade to ios 17. „Nobody reported it to Apple”

I was chatting to Apple support online. I have appointment booked for Wednesday - I can fix my camera for $169 😂 „There were no issues reported to Apple with iphone 12 mini after upgrading to ios 17”

Shame we cannot downgrade the software 😏

I have the same issue with my 1x. My 0.5 seems to be okay but portrait is blurry. Also my front camera is fine it’s just the rear camera. Can’t afford a new phone and it was totally working fine. Anyone had any success? I’ve tried the apple steps no success with that.

I have the same problem my iPhone 14promax Is not focusing properly Only 1x and 2X is working fine but no more 3x in potriet and photo no 0.5 and no 2x is working .

apple must have give us solution.

I too had a perfectly working camera till the upgrade. I need it for work.

I live in a rural area, about 150kms from an Apple Store. Would be nice to think someone was caring about this problem…

Wow, I’m glad I came here and looked up this issue. The same thing has been happening to my iPhone 12 mini since the last update. It makes it really hard to pay with a QR code and I really can’t take photos of my food anymore. I typically wait to make updates, but eventually Apple forces you to do them by making it so Face ID doesn’t work and other little annoyances. Any suggestions on how to get them to resolve this instead of profiting off of “fixing the hardware”?f

We’d probably have more success “encouraging” Apple to find a free solution to this well-documented post update problem if we posted about this on a public forum, like Twitter or Facebook or Google reviews. Like Audre Lorde said, “the master’s tool will never dismantle the master’s house.”

I have a 12 mini and this has been happening since I upgraded to 17.2. Front camera is working fine. My back camera can only focus using the .5 lens. Anything over that is blurry and I forget taking a video. It goes in and out of focus. Apple what is going on? Can you please release an update that fixes this?

typical update issue I reset everything today and not fixed it what a ball aches. I’ll contact Apple to see if there is a fix but I know what the answer is gonna be

This is crazy! This issue was reported 7 months ago and there have been at least 5 software updates since then with no patch!?! My camera is completely useless at this point, it won’t focus on anything. Between this and the amazing pics of the solar eclipse my android friends got, compared to the unimpressive milquetoast my apple phone took, maybe it is time to finally switch after 13 long years…c’mon Apple get us a fix!!

I have an update. While chatting with Apple support on another topic, I decided to bring up our camera focus issues. Here’s what they said. Fingers crossed that the 18 update that’s coming soon fixes this super- annoying problem.

My 12 mini has had this issue since upgrading to 17.5.1. Seems so many iPhone 12 minis are having this issue that the main camera does not focus. Why hasn’t anyone from Apple come out to answer or advise the solution for this problem. It’s super annoying for me since I use camera days in and days out. I have to use the wide angle lens to take photos which is not the ideal.

Apple, please, fix the issue as soon as possible. 🙏🏼

I have the same issue. My camera was focusing perfectly before the last update (17.2.1)

I’ve been checking for updates to fix this bug, but nothing yet. :/
