Epson Driver Needed for 14.0 Mac OS

Why would they? It's not their job to track down every possible driver for thousands of printers.

Each vendor provides Apple with drivers for their printers, and not necessarily all of them. And even of those, the drivers they provide to Apple are almost always watered down.

Such as, for our Xerox VersaLink C405, yes, Ventura and Sonoma recognize it and offer to set up the printer. But those drivers are missing a lot of settings. To get those, I have to install the full drivers available directly from Xerox.

How are you connecting it? With these printers, an Ethernet connection always works better than USB.

Epson changed that not too many years ago. When we had our 4900, it came with over 50 premade printer profiles. Not that we used them since we needed to create our own profiles for use with a RIP. But they were there.

I looked at the drivers Epson makes available now for their current models, and even for the very expensive ones, they include almost no profiles. You seem to be expected to make your own, which means purchasing more very pricey hardware and software.

Same problem here. I just bought a new Mac Studio, downloaded OS 14, got my Lightroom and Photoshop fully upgraded and... my P600 will not work with the "newest Epson 12.62 driver." AirPrint works just fine - but the printer will not respond to Epson's proprietary driver. This is frustrating.

I'm afraid that the 12.62 driver, now listed as compatible with MacOS 14 does not work properly in my installation: settings will not save but revert either to default or to some mixture of default and last used settings after each file is printed. Horrible.

It also depends on how much you paid for the printer. Xerox and most other manufacturers do the same thing. Cheap or somewhat inexpensive printers don't get very many updates for major OS changes (or many updates at all). Expensive models are supported for much longer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. All of my paper profiles are gone but I'm able to print. I guess Epson views its very expensive photo printers as serving a niche market not deserving of quick support. I have quite a bit of work ahead of me reinstalling my fine art paper profiles.

Same problem here. No driver for P700 printer after entering OS14 Sonoma in pulldown. So I installed driver for OS13 onto my new Mac as I'm switching computers, but limited functionality compared with the driver on my OS12 Mac.

Same issue for me. It looks like the newest Epson 12.62 driver is not so new. Pre Sonoma. The Epson Printer SC600 that is sitting next to me hasn't be able to print since the arrival Sonoma. I have spent a non-trivial amount of time attempting to troubleshoot without any luck. It may not be the OS, but the song remains the same. Sigh....

I am also totally frustrated waiting for the Epson P700 printer driver. it makes me wonder if Epson is trying to get us to upgrade our printers. I am printing canvases and metal prints now and not paper. 😩 epson we need your support if you want us to stick with you.

I tried switching from USB to Wireless without any luck today - Jan 17, 2024. The Epson network installation software just spins and spits out a message stating that it was unsuccessful. All the suggested Epson troubleshooting tips were tried several times, and I am still unable to use the printer. I logged a second support ticket with Epson today. Never had any issues with this printer until Sonoma.

And an update since yesterday... with another problem. Although the Epson driver can now be accessed when my P600 is connected by wifi, not USB, so I can set printer controls properly, and save them as a preset. But when I come to print another copy, or the next image, the PRESET SETTINGS HAVE NOT BEEN SAVED AND APPLIED.

It just sets to a Default (although the default setting has not been selected).

So I have to redo every setting in the driver window, manually, for every print.

Has anyone else had this issue - or found a solution?

You'll have to talk to Epson about that.

I only joined this topic because the OP was looking for drivers for their 3880. I used to have one of those before selling it and getting a 4900 (also now sold). I knew where to look for those drivers, so I posted a link.
