iPad 1st Gen repairs!

Hi all,

My autistic son (18yrs) uses his 1st Gen iPad daily. He prefers it over his mini iPads, iPod and iPhone!

However, it is showing signs of its age. Does anyone know if it is possible to get authorised repairs undertaken on legacy devices such as this? I have a spare unit that will not connect to iTunes or iCloud so I am unable to back up the old one and restore it to the new(er) pad. I would even consider swapping chassis, if that is possible!?!?!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
