Iphone photo downloads

For the past several years, I simply selected a photo, then selected download, and the photo would be save on my computer.

It doesn't get much easier.

Now, because of the "new improved IOS" I select the photo, select download, and a ZIP file opens.

Then I have to extract the ZIP files, but rather than the JPEGS the files are "web pages".

Way to go apple you took a simple one step process, and screwed it up.

I figured I'd do an "end-around" by plugging the iphone13s into the computer direct. I even got a sign in via passcode message, but when I went to file explorer, NO iphone13s

OK... having wasted nearly one hour with iphone/apple help here is the solution.

1) settings

2) camera

3) formats

4)change from "High Efficiency" to "Most Compatable"

Sadly you still have to deal with ZIP files, but now they are usable JPEGS

Hint, hold down control and download as a group.... still NOT as easy as just hitting the DOWNLOAD icon, but I guess this is progress

It sounds like it is a change by Apple, but I doubt if it is tied to the new version of iOS, per se. More likely a change to the way that the iCloud Web interface works, by people who assumed that downloading a single .ZIP file would offer a more efficient transfer than downloading separate images.

If you want Apple to get rid of the .ZIP files (or at least add a setting to the iCloud Web interface to let you choose whether you want to use them or not), you might want to submit feedback to Apple.
