Amber, Emergency, Public Safety, Test Alerts all turned OFF - phone still sounds & displays alerts

Greetings,

My iOS 16.7 device has AMBER, Emergency, Public Safety, and Test Alerts all turned OFF in the Notifications menu in Settings. Even though this is true, the phone AND linked Apple Watch sounded the test emergency alert today at 2:18pm.

How did this happen and how can it be corrected?

What is turning-off Alerts on my iPhone 16 Pro? I am finding since upgrading to this 16 Pro that Alerts are being turned-off for reasons I can't discern. Just this morning again I noticed I didn't get some usual Notifications, and sure enought in Control Panel I found a red Alert bell (the icon with a line thru it). Turned it back On and it worked a few times until it DIDN'T again later this morning. I noticed it early-on when I took delivery in late September, and it troubled me enough that I even re-programmed the former Silent switch, now the Action button I think, to do Nothing since if comes default I believe as mute/unmute. Nope, that wasn't it i.e. I wasn't accidentally pressing that. I do also have a new Watch Ultra 2 that is set to "follow" the iPhone in re: Focus. What could be the reason my Alerts are getting muted?

iPhone Calendar Alerts / Apple Watch Conflict Restarting this discussion, as it would not let me reply – when I use my iPhone, and I am wearing my Apple Watch my Calendar event notifications WILL NOT sound on my iPhone. It is vital that I receive my calendar notifications on my iPhone, as I set a specific notification sound for my important meetings, that I cannot miss. I am so busy each day that I need a consistent LOUD calendar sound from my iPhone to tell me to move on to my next meeting. I found this thread today, and I have sent my feedback to Apple, after an hour speaking to a very helpful Apple Senior advisor today: iPhone Calendar Alerts / Apple Watch Conf… - Apple Community Has anyone found any other work arounds, other the one mentioned in the above thread (to turn off wrist detection?)

It is not possible to silence the government alerts like you got today. That’s not up to Apple. It’s not up to Google. It’s not up to any phone manufacturer. It’s the law.

if you’re unhappy about it, contact your congress-critter and senator and complain to them.
