Focus modes not activating consistently across devices

I have an iMac, an iPhone (latest iOS) and Apple Watch (latest WatchOS) and this is what's happening:

  1. I change the focus mode on my phone, my iMac changes as well. But my Apple Watch doesn't.
  2. I change the focus mode on my iMac, my iPhone and Watch changes as well.
  3. I change the focus mode on my Watch, my iMac changes but my iPhone doesn't.

iMac: "Share Focus Status" is checked.

iPhone: "Share Across Devices" is toggled on.

Apple Watch: Settings>Focus> Mirror my iPhone is toggled on.

Weird isn't it.

It sounds like option number two is working across all three devices. If I understand that correctly, I would leave the settings alone. More, if you're using the sleep application on your watch and phone, sleep seems to dominate the focus function by turning the screens black even if your focus settings are scheduled to turn off after your sleep schedule. Finally, another tricky consideration, if you're using 24 hour time, be sure that your focus settings are set to 24 hour time too.
