Keep the clock widget on all night?

The new clock widget is really cool. I'd like to have the screen on all night so it can be used like an alarm clock. I'm sure this is a user error issue, but is there a setting to keep the alarm clock feature on without setting the phone to never sleep (which would mean the screen doesn't turn off when it's not an alarm clock)?

I see that you have an iPhone 12. That means it can run iOS 17. I haven't upgraded my own iPhone to iOS 17 yet – but if you are running iOS 17, and you have a charger on your nightstand, does Standby Mode do the trick for you?

I missed that. Is there an easy way to wake the phone, say, by touching the screen, or by mumbling "Hey, Siri, what's the time?" If so, that might be a workaround.

If the phone is on a stand and you tap the stand lightly or if you tap on the screen, it will bring up the clock screen again. I haven’t tried it but it is supposed to work with Siri.

Use StandBy to view information at a distance while iPhone is charging - Apple Support

With the Always On display (on iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max), StandBy stays on to show useful information. For all other iPhone models, it’s easy to bring up StandBy anytime by tapping the screen, gently nudging the table your iPhone is on, or using Siri.

Unfortunately, currently only iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max and 15 Pro/Pro Max can be set to always display in standby mode, and your iPhone 12 cannot be set to do so. Let's look forward to the next update!
