I have my Mac mini connected to two monitors via USB-C cables. Regardless of the settings under Lock Screen, after I lock the computer, 30 seconds later the displays turn off and (I guess) the Mac goes to sleep. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Sorry, the differences is that those screenshots are for a laptop and not a desktop Mac.
Try adjusting your "Turn display off when inactive" setting up to 20 or 30 minutes to see if that helps.
Also do your external displays have a standby sleep timers in their On Screen Menu settings?
If they do, then you may need to adjust those standby or sleep timers to never.
Thank you. Seems like that, I agree, but I'm not able to see just what. If you look at my screenshot in the original post, you'll see my settings (this is a Mac mini, so there are no battery or power adapter settings). I did try the Energy Saver settings both ways (see screenshot below), got the same reaction in both cases - displays go off after 30 seconds. I don't know what else to change.
Thanks again. I've tried many different settings in the Lock Screen menu, but the problem refuses to go away. And no, the external screens have no sleep timers of their own. I can't be 100% sure, but I do not remember this problem before upgrading to Sonoma. Will report it to Apple as a possible bug.

Please note that my machine is a Mac mini with SSD, not a laptop with hard disk and I am running MacOS Sonoma, so there are certain settings shown in your linked discussion that I do not have.
Thanks for your kind input. You are right about the truncating, I intentionally omitted the other two options as irrelevant for this discussion. Other two options and not other four as in your linked screenshot, since I do not have the power nap and hard disk options which are not available/relevant for my machine.
For the sake of good order I did try switching the Wake off and it did not fix the problem.
Did you ever find a fix to this? I seem to have the same problem.
i have a Mac Studio and Mac Studio Display. When I lock my computer, the screen goes black after 20-30 seconds no matter what. If I let my screen idle for a minute, my screensaver comes on but it doesn’t follow the time settings that I configured. The monitor goes black in less than 10 minutes when I have it configured to run for 30.
No. The situation is still the same now on Sonoma 14.1.1. I have reported this to Apple.
If you want, please post your exact settings and I can try them at my end to see if the behavior is any different.
tonight I updated the latest sonoma version and I am also experiencing the same issue in my Mac mini. I have set the display turn off setting for 2 hrs but after 30 sec it is getting turn off on Lock Screen. it is very weird and it's a bug. @appplesupport kindly check and fix it.
I have the same problem. No matter how I change the Lock Screen settings, the displays turned off at 30 seconds after the screen is locked.
Worst part is, after the displays turned off, and when I log back in again, previously opened apps are shuffled randomly across different Desktops. And then I have to move the apps back to the desired Desktops, again and again. Very Sad!!!
I guess I cannot leave my desk long now (I can leave, but cannot lock the screens). I am forced to be "productive", lol.

So, by pressing Ctrl+Cmd+Q to lock screen, the laptop will turn all displays off after 30 seconds, no matter what the setting are.
Thanks never tried that Ctrl+Cmd+Q to lock screen, my iMac running Mojave goes to the Lock Scren & tuns plack in about 5 seconds!:)
All windows come back where & how they were, but in Mission Control I have nothing checked & no external Monitor.
Yeah, I won't have this problem if there are no external displays. i guess this app shuffling issue is considered edge case.
So, to avoid the app shuffling, I just need to prevent the laptop to fall into sleep (at least during my work hours).
But by doing Lock Screen, the laptop will fall into sleep after 30 seconds, so I cannot just Lock Screen by pressing Ctrl+Cmd+Q
My compromise is to set: "Start screen Saver when inactive" to 1 minute; set "turn display off on power adapter when inactive" to 2 hours; set "require password after screen saver begins or display is turned off" to immediately; enable "prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off" (not sure why this one is not preventing sleeping already?!).
Then i just let my laptop be idle for 1 minute before i leave my desk. Doing so, the screen saver is running and screen is locked by itself, and it will not sleep until after 2 hours. I usually get back from my coffee run by then.

Now (a few MacOS updates later - version 14.5 currently) I have these settings, and everything works fine. The screensaver kicks in after 3 mins, the displays go off after 10, and when waking it up all windows are exactly as they were.
I have the same exact issue. Does not matter what any of the settings are set to, as soon as I lock the screen, it almost immediately turns off/blacks out the built in display and my external monitor. It makes no sense, why even have these settings? Its a minor annoyance but when very frustrating on a brand new, very expensive laptop.
