jump to next edit in a timeline with captions

When I try to jump to the next edit in my FCPX timeline, using the arrow keys, the darn cursor now only jumps to the next caption.

I have captions on my interviews so I can skim the timeline to find quotes. It's a great technique I learned somewhere online, can't remember where. But it slows me down a lot if the cursor now can't jump between edits, because it sees each of the dozens of captions on a long clip as the "next edit" so hitting down arrow only goes a few seconds forward.

Is there any way to turn off the captions when I don't need them, so that "next edit" type actions ignore them?

"Disable captions" doesn't do it; cursor still treats each one as the "next edit"

It's in the shot you posted - turn captions on and off is the checkbox, "collapse" is the button you circled on the right, lol.

I'm on FCPX 10.6.9

"Collapse" makes them invisible in the timeline, but the captions are still on screen.

Turning off the checkbox makes them invisible on screen, but still visible on the timeline and still affect jumping playhead behaviour
