Bluetooth issues on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.3

I am having issues with bluetooth dropping the connection in my car and air pods pro since I upgraded my phone to iphone 15 PM and IOS 17.0.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. this is my main phone and I can't take the chance of having unstable IOS build on it. Any suggestions or better yet can apple just make something that works as it should for $1200 thanks!

1. Apple released the iOS 17.1.2 update, which fixed the Bluetooth issues on iPhone 15 Pro.
Update iPhone to new iOS 17.1.2
2. Unpair the iPhone from the car.
3. Remove the Bluetooth HandsFree link from your iPhone.
4. Reboot iPhone.
5. Now pair the iPhone in the car.

Try submitting a bug report. I have done it some weeks ago but I guess we need to make noise on more important spaces such as MacRumors forums.

I can’t believe more people don’t have this problem!. Is it a Bluetooth chip from

certain supplier the problem?. Why so few propels has this issue???.

it makes the phone features of a smart phone unusable!.

For me, only in my car I have the constant disconnects, but it works perfectly with AirPods Pro and my Max. What gives?. iOS 17.2.1. iPhone 15 pro max. My 14 PM was fine.

Return the phone. By now is clear Apple does not see this bug.

Also having the same issue. Phone is only 10 days old. Connects to all other Bluetooth devices including AirPods 3rd generation. Minute I go into Audi car it drops or connects with zero sound. My 14 pro max connects without any issues. Also I’ve noticed when I say “hey siri, ring XYZ on speaker” it also doesn’t do that where previously it did. I’ve reset the phone without any restore to the connect from scratch in case something else was interfering with the Bluetooth stack. Also reset my Audi mmi, cleared all existing out and absolutely nothing has helped. Love apple but this is making me want to get a refund if a software issue can’t be resolved that’s clearly ongoing since October. I’ve a replacement coming next few days so time will tell….

Hi,

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and since launch date, I’ve been having issues. While speaking on the car connected by BT, it goes into privacy frequently. When connected to Apple car play with cable or wireless, while on a call, it also gets disconnected.

I am running IOS 17.2.1 and still with these issues.

I never had a problem with my previous 14 Pro, 13 Pro, 12 Pro nor 11 Pro. 😞

Sounds like you spoke to the same tech support as me.

As a result of the reset, I have spent the past 48hrs opening apps and regranting access to location, deciding on cookie sharing, re-entering passwords, redoing my FaceID which has resulted in all my banking apps needing passwords and two-factor authentication.

Very frustrated, and quite angry, not least because the only action available to me is to go to Audi and ask them to update my cars software.

I suspect that’s not the solution unless everyone on this thread is driving a 2013 Audi. If you are, I would argue it’s still Apple’s problem as they haven’t built in legacy device compatibility.

My partners iPhone 14 and my 15 Pro apparently both use Bluetooth 5.3 (A2DP) and both run 17.2.1, so the only difference is the hardware and/or firmware.

Where is Apple in this conversation? I have had nothing but Bluetooth connection issues with all iOS versions on my iPhone 15 Pro Max SINCE DAY 1 - consistent audio dropouts on phone calls and with Pandora, Apple Music, streaming to AirPod Pros, other bluetooth speakers, in car (including using Carplay in rental cars)... I am on 17.2.1 as of this writing. Is this a hardware issue? Just go get a replacement device?

Excellent, that rules out country, network providers and dual sims. But ironically my car is also 2013, but it’s a BMW not VAG.

There’s a good chance though that multiple vehicle manufactures could have been using Bluetooth chips produced by the same manufacturer or built to a certain standard at that time.

Either way my car has worked with several iPhone models, and several android handsets over the past 10 years or so without any issues whatsoever. The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and operating system should be backwards compatible.

So many people on here are reporting Bluetooth issues connecting with other devices both old and new, so there seems to be more to this than just the Bluetooth connections with 2012/2013 vehicles.

Maybe there are multiple issues at play here which maybe why Apple are struggling to get to grips with the issues.

Hi! I’m from Italy, and I have iPhone 15 with iOS 17.2.1

I have already written other times on this forum.

My problem is not only with the Bluetooth car connection, but with any Bluetooth device I have used: AirPods, Beats solo3, Anker portable speaker,… all the same error: frequent disconnections, skipping audio, interference,… all problems that they increase as soon as I move the iPhone more than half a meter from the Bluetooth device.

I'm increasingly afraid that it's a hardware problem 😰

I’m on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My IP11Pro had no issues at all, but my 15PM won’t hold a connection for phone calls. They will drop out mid call, can’t reconnect to the car unit, etc. Interestingly playing music or podcasts via Bluetooth seems to be ok - guess phone calls are handled different on this device since it will say “no phone connected”. Doesn’t seem to be an issue with my AirPods, etc - just the car unit. Perhaps it’s some sort or Bluetooth incompatibility with older protocols?

This is really interesting that you are getting the dropouts at certain places, as I’ve just stated I did not get dropouts when stationary but did while travelling. Mine didn’t drop out whilst passing particular houses but driving down the motorway.

Maybe the switching of cell phone masts does have something to do with it… you probably would find that happening when driving past the same house as the masts are stationary so switching should take place at around the same location.

Jan 16, 2024 6:44 AM in response to GLRawson

Like GLRawson, my connection tend/ to drop out when I’m moving, at any speed or location.

Typically, the Bluetooth connection drops at exactly 40 seconds and re-connects shortly thereafter without the call dropping. Curiously, more often than not, the phone remains connected thereafter.

Over the weekend I’ve tested on other devices and don’t have any BT connection problems with other devices such as my AirPods Pro (1st Gen) and Anker Soundcore portable speaker, both of which I have tested with calls and music both sitting and moving around.

Further, I stream Spotify over Bluetooth in the car via a ViseoO Tune2Air without problems.

i haven’t tried my AirPods whilst driving yet - so can try that later to see if moving between cells is an issue.

In my reading, it does feel like an 15P/15PM issue related to lower data rate connections like calls, and not streaming media devices. That doesn’t explain why others are having problems though.

All very odd …

Confirmo, tuga aqui.

Eu contactei o suporte da apple, ao que me disseram que ninguém até agora tinha reportado.

Falei deste forum, ao qual me responderam que a apple não olha para este forum

Telefonem!

I contacted apple support, to which I was told that no one had reported it so far.

I mentioned this forum, to which they replied that apple doesn't look at this forum

Call support and report!!!!!!!

An Observation … AirPod Bluetooth Modes - anyone else noticed this?

I use my AirPod Pro Gen 1 with my work HP laptop. I’ve noticed that the laptop allows me to choose between two connection profiles on the AirPods:

xxxxx - Stereo

xxxxx - Hands Free Audio

(xxxxx being the device name)

The stereo connection is presumably A2DP and used for streaming media, whereas the latter is presumably the lower data rate connection. The hands free connection has poor quality like you would expect with a low data rate connection and would be used for call connections.

I have no problems connecting my AirPods with my 15 Pro as stated in previous posts below, only my 2013 car hands free, but wonder if those with other device problems have Bluetooth connecticity via the lower data rate mode, which those of us with older cars are most likely finding.

I cant see anything in the phone settings which allows me to toggle between the modes shown on the HP laptop so don’t have a solution.

Just an observation.
