External DVD player on MacBook Air

I have a 2019 MacBook Air and I've been using an external DVD optical drive to watch movies. I plugged it in to use and now my Mac won't recognize it. It works on my other Mac just fine. It doesn't show up in finder or disk utility. Any ideas?

How can I make the MacBook Air M2 recognize the DVD player? Any tips would help. Thanks in advance.

Are you using the same USB-A to USB-C adapter on both Macs?
