iPhone 8 Plus won’t sync with Apple Watch SE 2nd gen

My I phone 8 plus is up to date 16.7 but won’t sync with my new Applewatch se second generation. Why?

If the watch is on watchOS 10, it requires a phone running ios 17, which means a XS/XR or newer.

watch 8 and iphone x Is anyone else having issues with syncing their Apple watch 8 with their iPhone X? On the Apple site it says it should work, but when I try to sync them, I get a notification that I need at least a iPhone XS.
